I Jonx Mixoe Botts. Brother Earlc of the Irasburgh Standard has been visiting tho old Brigadeat Brandy Station, and gives inhis paper an interesting description of his risit. We copy from it the following account of an interview with Mr. Botta : On Friday, April 1st, in company with chp hin Roberts, we took a horseback ride to the residence of Hon. John Minor Botts, who lives I between two and three miles from the campa of ! the Vermont brigvle. We had interesting con versition with him about the war and many of the public men of the country. Hit position . thus fur has been one cf strict neutrality. We Mieve however, that be is more cf a Union man than a rebel from the fict that the rebel twice hal him a prisoner in the Libby at Rich mond, once as he toll us for eight weeks and oae day locking through the grates cf that re nowned institution. We think this proves that they hive not m ich confiience in his loyalty, and if they hive no fiitb in him we certainly ought to have. Hs spoke of Gen. McClelhn in terms of severe reproach, and said that he had certain knowledge cf the fact that he could have mvrched into Richmond at the time cf the seven d lys fight, with but slight molestation; the rebels expected him and had commenced re moving their stores and valuables to keep them from fill ng into his bands. We asked if be thought McClellan was a traitor, and he replied no, but be had fallen into bad company and his head had been turned with the i lea that he might make bis place as bead of the army a means to grasp the glittering prize of the Presi dency, so he adopted for his motto 14 make haste slowly," in the vain hope that the war might be terminated in seme other way than by fight ing, and a peace pitched up that aoukl leave htm the grcit man of the nation. Speak ing cf himself Mr. Butts siid h' hvl been high ly fivured s:nce Ihe war begun as he had three different governments over him, as each army advanced or waj driven back the rebel, the federal, and Moshy; of the three he preferred Moshy for he afforded him complete protection, hdc the rebels and the federals took all of his rails, statiog that when the army oarac he had thirty miles tf rail fence but they had taken twenty-eight miles for tt eir share, leaving him but two, and these two lowed over very percep tibly towards the Vermont camps ! In person Mr. Botts is about five feet ten inches high, rather portly, has a mild countenance, is pleas ant spoken but earnest in h's mianer, has not a very high forehead, is about sixty years of age, and wc shcul I not pick him out at first sight for a very great m m, though we should think he would make a very popular landlord to a coun try inn II doss not think but little of poli ticians, berating tbem soundly; his cpinivn of them ought to be worth something for he has been in public life the meet of bis.diys, having been a Member of Congress from Virginia sev eral terms and was at one time a prominent can didvte for tne Vice Presidency. He said daring his lite he bid oeer seen but one politician in whom be bid perfect confidence, bat one that was true ami entirely unselfish, aud th.it was Henry Clay. We can forgive Mr. Botts any number of sins for speaking Mat namt. Thirty-Ilighlh CongressTirst Se-ion. Wa.sui3.otox, April 14. Sexate.
