TREASON!!! YXW IOTV TO THE 7109 VZBf. As the organs of the pro-slavery Bachaoefert am continually grinding out t heir single tout tye dissolution of the Union, we pro pose a few notes from the "Sunny South," by way ol variation, Organs of the negro Democracy please copy. The people of the South and of the North have never been one people, and nothing can ever make them so- All compromise? aod patched up truces are in vain." Charleston Mercu ry The above is the first note. The second is from the S. C. Bib lical Recorder. uDr. Wayland has taken Mr. Jefferson's infidel dogma in the Declaration of Independence for his motto: and the halo of false light hns seemed to exclude from hie field ol vision God's revealed instructions on the institution of Slavery. Indeed the whole pha lanx of abolition leaders have planted themselves upon that untrue and irrationtd senti ment of Mr. Jefferson as their stand point in their anti-slavery movements, both in this country I aa, . . aft and in KnffUnd. They rcter us to our declaration of national rights, and not to the Bible. The declaration of Mr. Jefferson that all me u are created equal, is, it self, both false and without mean in. Wayland has evidently for aaken the great platform of Bi ble truth, and whenever he quotes the Scriptures to support his Ul&e thoory of human liberty seldom fails to torture and distort their meauiog.' The third is from the Rich mond .Whig. "We are heartily sick and dis gusted with the canting and mer cenary hypocrites of Yankeedom. Mr. Brough replied that it was no use to make speeches now; that the question was alrea dy settled as to who would be our next President, and that it any sensible man had any doubts up on his mind, the news from Maine just received, ought to eradicate them. He said he had some ex perience in political matters; knew somewhat how to judge of events by the signs of the times; consid ered that a current of Northern and Free sentiment was at work such as would sweep everything before it, and that this current was as irresistible and would be as o- verwholming as that which wash ed the face of the Republic in 1840. From the N. Y. Times. The Kansas Elections. Bwrtaaaa sad Baltimore. Mr. Buchanan never denied that he opposed the war of 1812. or that he arraigned Mr. Madison and his administration, in his o- rathn, delivered nt LnnciiHUrTiJu- ly 4th, 18ir, but an an ofiiet to his opposition to the war und to Mr. Madison, he stated thai be VoluntottTtid undwtsut toBaltimore when that city was invaded. WhiUt Messrs Clay and Buoh aMkvvro in (We Senate togeth er, a (liHUiwuon arose, in wmch this Mlj"t whm inriflnUlly re- fetTfid te, lofl the loilnwingin A Kansas election comes off on the first of October. A new ter ritorial Legislature is to be chos en on that dav. This fact will account for the eagerness of the Pro-Slavery propagauda to com plete the work of subduing Kan sas. It is with reterence to this election that the recent move ments of the Border Ruüians have been organized: that bodies of armed men have been mustered: that forts have been built: that all possible preparations have been made to sweep out of the Territory every mn likely to vote for the exclusion of Slave-T it should be borne in mind al so that by a law of the last Leg islature there is to be a muster of militia on election dav: in oth w er words that the great body of the Missouri invaders are to be present at the polls under arms. What ia the object of this most extraordinary provision? Never before has such a thing been wit nessed in this country. Louis Napoleon, it is true, when he an pealed to the popular suffrage of b ranee, stationed troops at the polls for the preservation of or der, but even he did not order the voters to come to the polls withurmsin their hands. This Kansas regulation is the most o- pen aod shameless avowal yet made of a determination to crush the popular sovereignty of Kan sas under the heel of an armed invasion. We may look for scenes of vi olence and bloodshed, at the Kan sas polls without a parallel in the history of the country. Nothing but the direct and prompt inter position of the Federal troops, and tneir employment for the preservation ol order throughout the Territory, can prevent the re currence ia every quarter of Kan sas of just such scenes as were witueaaed a few days since at Leavenworth. There, as our rea ders remember, when a city elec tion was tobe held, the first step Uken was a proclamation that no Free State man should bo allow ed to approach the polls, and this was followed up by the forcible expulsion from the city of every 4 7Rev.
