Richard M. Milburn of Jasper has announced that he will be" a candidate for attorney general before the next state convention. Mr. Milburn was a candidate in 1908 and was de feated by T. M. Honan, the pre sent incumbent, by only a few votes. There is no question of Mr. Milburn's qualification as a law yer. He stands high at the bar in his own county and his servic es are frequently in demand in other circuits- He is a hard and close student in his chosen pro fession, As a man he is clean and able. We would like to see Milburn get the office but he never will until he makes his peace with smiling Thomas T. Conrad Schaaf, of Lincoln, Nebraska was in Jasper last wöek visiting relatives. James Blackford, manager of the local hub factory spent this week at Marengo looking after timber. Edward Egg has his new bak ery about ready for business and expects to begin baking in a few days. Mrs. Hilbert Roettger enter tained the Trinity Aid Society at her home on North Jackson St., Friday afternoon. Burglar Arrested; A youug man giving his name as Lawrence Hall was arrested by Sheriff Schwenk at the depot here Friday evening, charged with the theft of some clothing from the store of August Sal at at Huntingburg to which charge young Hall pled guilty; he is al so alleged to be an army deserter. His arrest was due to the suspi cions of Miss Clara Rumbach of this place,- who teaches school near Huntingburg, and who had heard of the burglary, and when meeting him on the road carry ing a suit-case her suspicions were aroused and she notified the authorities. W. R. Fox, 195 W. Ross Greene, son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Green, of Velpen, died at a hospital in Georgia last week as a result of injuries re- ceived when riding on a freight tram while .attendiagto some horses which' he was shipping. The young man was united in marriage in Jasper on last Dec 10th with Miss Clydia Greene at the Presbyterian parsonage by Rev. Bromley, and himself and bride intended making their home in Georgia.
