FAIR FEARLESS ONE O Vol. 3—No. 201 PEDESTRIAN INJURED WHILE JAYWALKING At 284 Kinnard street, a pedes trian crossing in the middle of the block was struck by a motorist making a “U” turn. Injured was Katie Arnold, 45, of 284 Kinnard street, who suffered abrasions of the right knee, leg and elbow. She was treated at the Miami Valley Hospital. The car was driven by Henry G. Alford, 36, of 7 Upton place, DeSoto Bass Courts. "DOC" ROBERTSON DIES “Doc” Robertson, 45, resident of the county home, was dead upon ar rival at the St. Elizabeth hospital at 11:45 a.m. yesterday. He was taken to the hospital by police who removed him from a trolley at Ger mantown and Lakeview avenue. Death was attributed to a heart attack. “Doc” was the only name by which Robertson was known. The body is at Jones Brothers funeral home awaiting arrival of relatives or friends. DIVORCE COURT Carrie Donaldson, 834 Dennison avenue, vs. Bishop Donaldson, same address. Jacob R. Wilbert, pastor of the Norwood Christian Church, and his family returned Tuesday, August 29th, from a two weeks’ vacation. Rev. Wilbert and family spent one week of their vacation in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, with his father, Mr. Ernest Wilbert. The other week was spent in Lexington, Kentucky, attending the national convention of the Disciples of Christ. During the absence of Rev. Wil bert the pulpit of the Norwood Christian church was supplied by the Rev. L. H. Haywood, a student of Wilberforce University. The re port of the congregation is that Rev. Haywood did a fine job. Rev. Wilbert will be in his pul pit Sunday morning, September 3. His subject for Sunday morning will be “The Forks of the Road.” The Scripture text is found in He brews 11:24-26. The public is in vited to hear this subject discussed. Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Davis, 57, of 2119 Home avenue, who died Tuesday after an illness of six weeks, will be held at the Jones Brothers funeral chapel at 455 West Fifth street, at 2 p.m., tomor row. Burial will be in Greencastle cemetery. CONSTRUCTIVE PROGRESSIVE WORLD E 10. The Mortgage Burning ceremony will take place Sunday, September 10, at 3:30 in the afternoon, with the Rev. Dr. Oliver W. Childers, pastor of the Charles Street A.M.E. church, of Boston, conducting the services. Dr. Childers was pastor of Wayman a number of years ago, and it was during his administra tion that the present edifice was erected. The Rev. Dr. Reed will be in the pulpit tomorrow morning, when the Holy-Communion is observed. FAMOUS CHILDREN'S SINGING GROUP SINGS HERE The Thresher Wonder Singers, a group of children, ranging in age from 9 to 13 years, will present a musical program ^t Mt. Calvary Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., and at St. John’s Baptist church next Thursday eve ning at 8:30 o’clock. These children have sung to audiences of millions throughout the United States. Their first fame came when they won first prize on Major Bowes’ Amateur program, and at the New York World’s Fair.
