Dr. Williams had just completed his report on the now historic At lanta session of Baptists of the world—it was at this meeting that Baptists delivered a body-blow to racial segregation anc^ color preju dice. In the first place, she explained, the NYA job has never been proof ferod to her and the first she had he:-.) that there was any difinite likiihood of her accepting it was when she read the story in the news papers. Then, she pointed out, she has just begun work in her post as A'member of the Pennsylvania as sernl^ y, her election to that post marking the first time a Negro wo-1 man had ever sat in the legislative halls of any American common wealth. She is enjoying this new experience, she said, aside from the clouds of tobacco smoke which enl yelope her each working hour, and 8he is grwink accustomed to that. Mrs. Fauset has reason t0 be be pleased with her prospects. In the brief time she has served in the state's capitol, she has won the re spect of her fellow representatives. Dr. W,1 liams thanked the ministers present and expressed gratitude for the statement made by Dr. J. C. Austin, pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Dr. Austin had paid an eloquent and moving tribute to Dr. Williams's At lanta action. measures which, while they did not. pass because her Democratic pa|ty is in the minority, still attracted at tention because they were designed to help the entire population and not her own group alone. Even the rumors that Mrs. Fau set is already looking toward con gress in the near future are wrong. It is true that many of her admirers in Pennsylvania and other states where she has been speaking this year have expressed a desire to see her in the national, law making body, thus becoming the first color ed woman to go t0 the national leg islature but she says her associa tion with men in politics has taught her to be a realist. Sse feels that the way is not open for a colored woman to be elected to Washing tnn from Philadelphia, and there fore she says she has not included such a possibility in her thinking. The immediate objective of Crys tal Bird Fauset, one would gather, are to become an effective and cap able legislative representative of her district, two thirdg of whose voters are white, as well as of her own people and then to establi&sh the ability of a c^"ored woman to suc cessfully land capably repre,-*ent a with the national YWCA* great district in the law making ®n(j the American Friend's commit-body of a great state. —COMPLIMENTS— SAM'S DRUG STORE Lincoln Park Drive and Cutter Street CHerry 8892-8893 Cincinnati, Ohio SHARP'S REGAL STORE The Finest Xtcfrig'eraHoti System in ths West End Fresh Fruits Vegetables, Meats and Groceries Fight Polios**,. A Prominent Business Woman Praises Mme.C). Walker's Preparations "I use Mme. C. J. Walker's preparations exclusively be cause I get results from them that I am unable to get from any other preparation," stated a well known business woman the other day. The secret of the remarkable success of Mme. C. J. Walker's preparations is in the fact that they were blended by the late Madam C. J. Walker to reach certain definite conditions of the hair, skin and scalp, and today, after over thirty-five years on the market, they are growing increasingly popular, and not withstanding the fact that the Company has always refused to reduce the price on these goods, they are still in demand every where. Mme. C. J. Walker's Glossine, although more than thirty-five years on the market, is still the leader in its field. The reason for this is because it not only serves as a scalp oil, but it gives the hair that silky sheen and natural gloss that is the delight of every woman. Mme. C. J. Walker's Brown Face Powder is not just another Face Powder, but is the result of years of experimenting to pro duce the perfect blend to impart a velvetlike softness and at the same time cooling and refresh ing. Just the thing for these hot days. The Mme. C. J. Walker's won derful preparations are sold by Walker Beauticians and Drug Ktor«a everywhere, or you can write The Mme. C. J. Walker Mfg.
