threshbold, and their hoofs are re
sounding on the confines of Owyhee.
Tom Bugbee, Con Shea and George
Miller, who left here last fall, are
this side of Salt Lake, each with a
drove ; and we hear that our old
friend, J. P. Moore, an extensive
California cattle dealer, is also on
his way hither from the Brazos, or
some other stream in the land of Sam
Houston and Davy Crocket. Bugbee
has made arrangements lor hay and
other conveniences for wintering on
the Bruneau. Dave Dorsey has been
out add fixed up winter quarters for
him. We understand Con intends
to winter lower down the Snake
river, perhaps on the white sage
plains near the mouth of Sinker ;
and Miller will probably go into
his old camp near the mouth of Rey
nolds creek. These old cattle sharps
are hard to deceive as to the best
country in the world to winter stock
in. They go for white sage every
time.

The Twilight mine in Flint dis
trict is being worked by Squire King,
Dan. Edwards, Tommy McAvin, J.
B. Harper and Capt. Drew as a joint
stock company. They have a road
built from the mine to Black's mill
and are at work in the shaft taking
out ore. They intend to crush about
a hundred tons as a trial, and if they
like it will continue tho work. The
ore in the Twilight is known to be
good, and as the ledge is quite wide
they will have no difficulty in getting |
out ore very rapidly. This ledge 1
is situated in Twilight gulch about a
mile and a half above the mill, and
the hills are quite precipitous and
the timber thick part of the way no
has hitherto had the cour
company
age to make a road to the mine, al
though its richness has long been a
settled fact.
Carl Scuukz, being invited by the
German Republicans of San Fran
cisco to address them, declines mak
ing any political speeches during his
stay in the city. He is a member of
the Senate Committee on retrneb
ment and will address himself to the
business he has in hand to the ex
clusion of the more pleasant em
ployment of addressing popular
audiences on political topics.
Juege Boweiis has gone to San
Francisco with his family to reside
permanently in the interest of the
Ida Elmore Company.
