NEW ROAD LAWS To Be Voted on By the Voters of Districts 1, 4 and 5, On Tuesday, July 28th. As Separate Districts. '(Chanter 174. Laws of 1914.) Koau Funds; County Ireas The treasurer of the urer's Duty, county shall he the tretsurer and cus ' todian of the funds of such road dis trict and be responsible on his official bond therefor and shall receive all taxes collected from the tax collector and keep a separate account thereof and shpll disburse such funds only on warrants from the county au proper id i tor. Sec. 5. Disbursements Fund. Road Commissioners, board of supervisors shall elect as road commisjioners three freeholders, residents of such district who shall have the same qualification pre scribed for the members of the board supervisors, who shall hold office for the term of four years unless sooner removed. Hoad Commissioners; Dutiesi and Powers. They shall report all wf their actions and proceedings together with the prices paid or promised to be paid for any purchase or rentals or hiring made by them to the next regular ; meeting of the board of supervisors, ; Sec. 8. Hoad Superintendent. There shall be selected by the road commis sioners. subject to the confirmation of the board of supervisors, a competent road superintendent, whose compen_ sation shall be fixed by the board of supervisors, who shall hold his office for one year unless sooner removed and j who shall give a good and sufficient bond for the faithful P erfo '™f n ®f *{f his duties Such superintendent shall work under the direction of the road commissioners and may require any oi all directions given him by such com missioned to be in writing. He shall give his whole time to the working of the roads in the district except when the commissioners on account ot weath er or other conditions may direct him otherwise All labor employed on the roads in snch district shall be employed by the superintendent and shall be un der his control and direction, but the wages paid or agreed to be paid such labor shall be subject to revision an. i correction by the road commissioners. Section 11. Contract Work. When ever. in the opinion of the road com missioners, andjof the board of super visors, any levee, causeway, or any portion or section of a highway in such district, or any single by-road or main road in such district can be best and most economically constructed, re paired or maintained by contract, it shall be lawful for the road commis sioners, subject to ratification by the board of supervisors to make a con tract with a piivate fiim or individual for such construction, repair or main tenance.but such a contract for main tcn&ncB and repairs shall not be made for more than twelve months. MEMPHIS, TENN. coming within the ganized under novisions of this act. by and with the consent of the hoard of supervisors evidenced by ordinance duly passed, may borrow money, in a sum or sums not greater in the aggregate than two per cent of the assessed valuation of the real and personal property within such district; such loans to be evi denced by the loan warrant, or war rants, of such district signed by the road commissioners thereof and coun tersigned by the president of the board of supervisors, and to bear not more than six per cent interest per annum and to run not more than five years from the issuance thereof. And pro vision shall be made at the time of making said loans for the payment thereof at maturity out of the road funds of said district. Sec. 16.
