The ruling nations of the world are meat eaters, and history records that they always have been. Vegetarians and food cranks may explain this in any way they choose, but the facts remain that the Americans, English. French, Russians, and Germans are meat eating nations, and they are also the most energetic and most progressive. The piincipal food of the heroic Boer sol dier, known as Biltong, is a sort of dried beef, affording a great deal of nourishment in a highly concentrated form. The weak races of people are the rico eating Chinese. Hindoos, and Siamese, re garded since the dawn of history as non progressive, superstitious, and inferior physically and mentally to the meat-eating nations who dominate them. The structure of the teeth plainly indi cates that human beings should subsist upon a variety of food, meat, fruit, and grains, and it is unhygienic to confine one's diet to any one of those classes to the ex clusion of another. Meat is the most concentrated and most easily digested of foods, but our manner of living is often so unnatural that the di gestive organs refuse to properly digest meats, eggs, and " similar nutritious and wholesome food, but It is not because such food is unwholesome. ut the 'real reason is that the stomach lacks, from disease or weakness, some necessary digestive ele ment; hence arising indigestion and later on chronic dysp.epsia. Xervous people should eat plenty of meat, convalescents should make meat the prin cipal food, hard-working people have to do so, and brainworkcrs and office men should eat, not so much meat, but at least once a day, and to ensure its perfect digestion one of two of Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets should be taken after each meal, beeauss they supply the peptones, diastase, and fruit acids lacking in every case of stom ach trouble. Xervous dyspepsia, catarrh of stomach, gastritis, sour stomach, gas, and acidity are only different names for Indigestion, the failure to digest wholesome food, and the use of Stuart's Tablets cures them all be cause, by affording perfect digestion, the stomach has a chance to rest and recover its natural tone and vigor. Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets Is the real ' household medicine; it is as safe and pleas- 1 ant for the stomachache of the baby as it is for the imperfect digestion of its grand sire. They are not a cathartic, but a digestive, and no pill habit canever follow their use; the only habit Stuart's Tablets induce is the habit of good digestion and conse quently good health. A little book on stomach diseases mailed free by addressing F. A. Stuart Co.. Mar shall. Mich. All drug stores sell the tablets at 50 cents for complete treatment dindend -in American Tobacco, but little atten tion is paid to them. One of the easiest things in Chicago is the getting of a marriage license. All you have to do is to go to Mr. Salmonson In the City Hall and ask for it. There are no restrictions except to be of age, and the age is placed so young that that no one could object. Xo red tape; no explanation of religion, race, or previous condition of servitude. Simply state your age and that of the -woman, names and residences; take off vour hat and swear "So help me God," and so forth: get your license, pay for it at the cashier's defek, and go forth to be come a benedict, to lead your bride, blush ing or otherwise, to the altar: home again, and then commences the matrimonial rou tine. tr Salmonson has issued marriage li censes for eighteen years, and pleased at least temporarily on an average 01 io.uuu couples a year. There are more foreigners than Americans married in Chicago. Mon tlav is usually the biggest day and Friday falls short of the others, showing the su perstition regarding that day is not yet dead. In Chicago the aerage age at which men marry is twenty-five, while the wom en average twenty-one years. Italians and French-Canadians marry younger than any other class of people. Of late Poles and Bohemians have been in the lead, with Germans running a close sec ond. Monday last, about 11:25 o'clock, an enor mously fat man was Just getting his li cense. He was short, but so broad that he was ponderous. He was in nign gooa humor, and gave an expansive grin that showed three front teeth missing and the rest of the set disdainful of dentifrice. Yet. with no physical attractions whatever, he has succeeded in gaining a wife. Whether he had money or only good nature to rec ommend him a stranger could not guess, but by appearances, if one were betting, the hazard would be with the latter. Xext came a Pole, who brought an interpreter along. He said he was twenty-three, but he certainly looked much older. If he had been a female the supposition would have been that five or six years had been knocked off. He was stupid in appearance and slow to understand. He was followed by a young man of twenty-four, so hand some, neat, and Intelligent looking that one would think Maude, aged twenty, was a very lucky girl. If he is as good as he Is handsome she will be very happy. The next was another Pole, and his girl was only sixteen. He was with difficulty made to understand that the girl was under age, and that a parent's consent was neccsasry before "the twain could be as one." A gentleman present said he would probably return and claim that the girl was eighteen and that he had previ ously made a mistake. Next came a German, whose prospective bride was 41, while he had reached the FREE TRIAL TREATMENT FOR WEAK MEN. And the grind commenced again for- the afternoon. Upstairs the divorce court was freeing with equal facility those 'wha had pre viously secured a license downstairs, and promised lo live together "till death do us part." This condition led a curious look ing woman to remark: "The hue and cry raised against the divorce is absurd. It is commencing at the tail end to reform. It is useless to lop off the branches while the trunk and roots remain intact. While men can obtain marriage licenses for the mere asking, without having to show proof of financial ability to maintain a wife (a man actually applied for a license without the necessary funds to pay for its cost), or any record of a moral or honorable character, divorces are a natural result. The divorce court is as natural a consequence of loose mar riage laws as that suffering in some man ner follows the breaking of the laws of God, man or nature." The AilvmitiiKeH.
