Deschanet according to the writer of the article pursues with indomitable encrg) the Chauvinist Idea of cutting Germany from the Triple Alliance and effecting a rappi ochement with Russia and Ital) on one hand and Great Britain on the other. ccording to the writer, the next move in this programme would be for France to attempt to reconquer Alsace-Lorraine, with the active aid of Russia, while Aus tria. LEBANON, Pa , March 7. John Plantz, emplo.ved at North Lebanon furnaces, had a thrilling experience as the result of an explosion. 'While engaged in cleaning a cinder pit his torch exploded and the biz ing oil ignited his clothing." Plantz made a dash to escape from the pit and fell on hot slag. Scrambling to his feet Plantz, with clothing ablaze, made another dash, only to fall again, this time into a water hole. The plunge extinguished the flames, and from the ditch Plantz was rescued by furnace men who witnessed the accident. Itun OtT With n Milt of Clothex. BALTIMORE, Md , March 7. Edgar, the twelve-) ear-old daugh ter of Mrs Alice Edgar, of Mianus, Conn , who. it is thought, is being secreted Locked up in the village jail Is Harr) Hin man, twentv -three vears old, who is charg ed by Mrs. Edgar with abducting her daughter. Hinman denies the charge, and insists that he does not know where little Annie is Mrs Edgar is a widow, who lives In Mia nus, a hamlet between Greenwich and Cos Cob Her only child is Annie, a prett) black-eyed girl of twelve )ears. Annie at tended the xillage school. She was said to be the prettiest girFln the school. Two weeks ago Mrs Edgar noticed that Annie was not paving attention to her studies She caught her writing love notes On Saturdav last the girl disappeared, and has not been heard of since Shortly after dinnci that day Annie dressed herself in her biocle costume and started out. '1 1 be back for supper," were her last words to her mother as she started down the road. She told her mother that she was going to visit a friend Annie did not re turn for supper, and Mrs. Edgar hecamo worried When Annie did not arrive homo thatjjight Mrs. Edgar xas frantic. The next dav she broke open one of the drawers in hei daughter's bureau and found several letters from Hinman. One was dated March 1. In it Hinman asked Annie to meet him in Stamford, it is al leged. Mrs. Edgar waited patiently for three da)s for tidings of her daughtpr. This afternoon she came to Port Chester and went to Justice of the Peace Stephen Marshall's office, where she swore out a warrant for Hinmau's arrest. In the com platnt Mrs. Edgar alleges that Hinman en ticed her daughter from home; that they went to Stamford and then eloped to Port Chester. The warrant was given to Po liceman Hkkey, who arrested Hinman. He was arraigned before Justice Marshall and pleaded not guilty to the charge. White, In the Sun Building this morning, it was decided to issue certifi cates of election to Messrs. Jones and Chase, and alternates Emmons and Pe terson, in accordance with the leport of the Returning Board, showing them to have received a majorit) of the votes for delegates and alternates to the Republic an National Convention. Saunders, a member of the Elec tion Board, refused to sign the certificates and at the same time gave notice of hi8 intention to protest the. election upon the ground of fraud and illegal balloting To his requebt to be permitted to seal the ballot boxes no objection was made. Comment is made on the continued output of turquoise mines in Grant county.
