The Second National BiblicaJL Congress will meet In this city April 17-19. This congress Is convened by the Regents $ the American Society of Religious Eudca tion on the date of its eleventh anniversa ry, and will hobl its sessions at Foundry M. E. Church. An interesting programme has been prepared and many prominent speakers and educators Mill be present and make addresses. At the meeting, which will be held Tuesday, April 17, at 2:45 p. m.. Gen. John Eaton, of this city, president, and Rev. A. X. Kcigwin, of Wilmington, will preside. The opening address will be de livered by Rev. Byron Sunderland, D. D., of this city, and will be en the theme of "The Bible, the Sword of the Spirit." A paper entitled "Bible Truths for Every Pe riod of Life," will be read by Rev. J. L. Looy, or Wheeling, W. Va. Rev. J. E. Rankin, of this city, and Rep resentative J. AV. Stokes, -of South Caro lina, will preside at the evening session. An address on "The Achievements of the Bible," will be delivered by the Rev. George E. Reed, President of Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa. Rev. J. W. Hott, Bishop of the United Brethren Church, of Dayton, Ohio, will follow with an address on "The Bible and the Welfare of the Church." Wednesday morning at 9:45 o'clock there will be a mother's conference in the audi torium of the church, at" which Mrs. J. E. Gilbert, of this city, and Mrs. W. F. Smith, of Spartanburg, S. These examinations are conducted simulta neously throughout the United States and Canada, In all cities where the educational work is sufficiently advanced to justify their taking them. These examinations are rigid, and to successfully meet them is an acknowledged honor. A number of young men have been successful in tne locai classes and the names of such will also be read by Mr. Woodward. The exercises will be enlivened with mu sic furnished by the association orchestra under the direction of D. B. MacLeod. A reception will be given the students, in the parlors, at tbe conclusion of the pro gramme. Here the full mandolin, banjo, and guitar club, taught by Mr. W. E. TWM ir. will dlsnense music. The present educational x'ork is the most extensive in the history of the Asso ciation. A corps of seventeen instructors constitutes the teaching force, and tho Eng lish course includes the following subjects: English, bookkeeping, typewriting, short hand penmanship, and correspondence, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mechanical, architectural, and free-hand drawing.
