The cotton market yesterday was firm
and the feeling at the Exchange
buoyant, fio confident are factors that

Saturday will be maintained, and that
better prices may bo looked for, that
they are asking concessions of from

market at an early day. The closing
prices as officially reported at the Cot

that the total transactions amounted

less. The announcement yesterday
afternoon that a settlement "had been
reached between Mr. Gowen and the

vances. Toward 2 o'clock the market
