It is miss-employed in sowing the seeds of depravity in the youthful mind, which in due time cannot fail to produce the rank harvest of iniquity, and consequently misery. We shall o\v proceed to enquire, what are the arts and sciences in which women should be instructed and what ought to be their ordinae ry employment. To these enquiries, it will be im* possible to direct answers, which shall be applicable in all points, to all classes in society ; and the ge nius, disposition, personal and mental advantages o'different pu pils, even in similar stations, may render it necessary to vary the modes of education in youth, and indicate d fferent methods of em ploying time in the more advance'* , periods of life Wc shall however, give seme general rule on this sub ject which will apply to the middle ranks o! society, and iht most nu merous portion of American wo men.
