SIX PAGES Home Ensemble, Singers, Kolo Group To Make Appearance April 15th During Program Honoring Lodge 148 Milestone Members Of Host Lodge And Friends To Hear High Officials Of Society During Afternoon Festivities In Chicago Home CHICAGO The members of "Istarska Sloga" Lodge 148 will celebrate the 45th Anniversary of their Lodge's affiliation with the Croatian Fraternal Union with a huge Program and Dance on Sunday, April 15. The members at the same time will also commemorate the 41st Anniversary of the Junior Order of the Croatian Fraternal Union, one of the largest and most powerful juvenile organizations of its type domiciled on the North ^/^merican Continent. This long and carefully planned dual celebration is to take place in the Croa tian Sokol Home, 1903 So. Racine Avenue, and com mence promptly at 3 PM. Speaking for Lodge 148 will be its President, Peter Popovich, and Vice President, George Dragozetich. A brief address will also be Jnade by Nick D. In keeping with a tradition of long standing, t'hese al ways colorful outdoor festivities will take place in West View Park, off Route 19, Pittsburgh, and be followed, for the second year, by a socialt gathering at the Croatian Center in Millvale. The WPL Committee is planning an elaborate pro grain of music, singing, dancing, speaking, etc., for the West View portion of the day and will announce the details shortly. Mass Meeting Important The Monday, May 21, Mass Meeting should be a most ed ucational one. There have been so many changes in the Croatian Fraternal Union in recent years that it will do all good to attend this rally and acquaint themselves with the Society's new CSO Certificates and other forms of protection. This gathering should be of particular interest to all lo cal and surrounding non members of the Croatian Fra ternal Union, particularly those who are professional or business dignitaries. Their every question will be ans wered that night in order that all may know precisely what the Society is and what it stands for. Seeking Support Of All Letters will be sent all lo cal members of the Croatian Fraternal Union by way of inviting them to attend the Dinner on May 20 and the Mass Meeting on May 21. Special invitations are ex tended in this manner to C. F. U. members and friends in Sugar Creek, Mo., St. Jo seph, Mo., Kirksville, Mo., Marceline, Mo., St. Louis, Mo., East St. Louis, 111., and Granite City, 111. Members of the not too distant Iowa Lodges and those affiliated with the Omaha, Nebraska, Lodge are likewise most cordially invited to attend these un dertakings. CHICAGO A ban quet, program and dance will highlight the celebration Sun day, April 22, of the 45th Anniversary of "Ban Jelacic" Lodge 440 of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America. Preceding the festivities will be a 10:00 AM Mass in Sacred Heart of Jesus Croatian R. C. Church memorializing the dead of the Lodge and praying for the welfare of the living. The celebration itself is to be held in the Croatian Home, 9618 Commercial Avenue, So. Chicago, and start at 3:00 PM. The banquet meal is to be served by the ladies of the Lodge and the celebrants are guaranteed a sumptuous re past. State Official Coming The program will be as col orful as any ever sponsored by Lodge 440. The speakers will be Joseph N. Bazdaric, 1st Supreme Vice President of the Croatian Fraternal Uni on of America, and the Hon. Laddie T. Pelnar, As sistant Director of the In surance Department of the State of Illinois. Mr. Pelnar, one of the out standing public figures in Illi nois, is of Czechoslovakian parentage. Nest Talent On Parade Among the highlights of the program will be singing by the Nest Choir, S. Cuzel la directing, and Kolo Danc ing by the Nest group under the direction of Mary Plese. The Singing Society "Croatia" under the direc tion of V. B. Smutny will likewise favor with several selections and baritone Dragutin Sostarsko will thrill Jhe celebrants with his wonderful voice. Anne Perencevic And Raymond Burovac With Tammies In Cleveland On April 15 Reception Will Follow Annual Appearance Of Most Famous Ensemble Of Kind In World CLEVELAND On Sun day afternoon, April 15, Cle veland will again play host to that entertaining ensemble called the Duquesne Univer sity Tamburitzans. This date will mark a homecoming for 2 members a y o n u o v a of the Tamburitzans, Anne Perencevic and Raymond Bu rovac. Anne, a sophomore, is a gr a u a e of Collinwood High School and was for years an outstanding sing er with the "Slavulj" Cho rus. Besides taking part in fra ternal affairs, she was always more than willing to help keep alive the cultural heri tage of her forefathers. Her family resides at 14910 Syl via Avenue. Ray, a junior, is a graduate of Benedictine High School, and is now looking forward to the business world and, in Lodge 975 Will Mark Anniversary TORONTO The still young-at-heart members of "Canucks" C.F.U. Lodge 975 will celebrate the 6th Anni versary of their Lodge with a Dance on Saturday, April 14. The festivities, which promise to be the most col orful in the brief annals of Lodge 975, will take place in the beautiful new Croa tian National Home, 1650 Dupont Street at Osier, and start at 8:00 PM. Music to satisfy one and all will be provided by the "Bal kanaires" Tam u i z a Or chestra, one of the best in the business in Southern On tario. Refreshments to enliven such an occasion as this cel ebration will be available throughout the evening. All in all, Saturday evening, April 14, promises to be a great night. Which is reason enough for all members and friends of Lodge 975 to attend. And by that we mean all Southern Ontario members of the Society. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. (Slosar) Burovac, who reside at 888 E. 139th St. Although the concert be gins at 3 PM, the ticket of fice at the Music Hall will have tickets on sale at 2 PM. Golub's, the ticket-selling headquarters, still has some choice seats available. Those of you who would like to meet the Tammies, personally, hold on to your ticket stub and attend the re ception which will be given at the Croatian Home in Col linwood following the concert. The celebration will be in the nature of a Picnic at Wise's Grove, New Brighton. Highlighting the festivities will be an afternoon program of outstanding musical enter tainment, speaking and other attractions. Starring during the pro gram will be the youthful but already famed "Sloga" Junior Tamburitza Orches tra of Farrell, Pa., all at tired in beautiful native dress. This very important gath ering is to be held in the Cro atian Home, 1735 East McNi cols Rd., and start at 3 PM. Representing the Home Office at Pittsburgh will be bros. Supremo Secretary Joseph Bella and Secretary of the Sick Benefit De partment John Ovcaricli. Both were re-elected to of fice during the 9th National Quadrennial Convention of September, 1955, and each knows his department and other facets of the Society thoroughly. Meeting Open To All Every phase of the Soci ety's current Membership Campaign will be covered during this rally and any questions you may have will be satisfactorily answered. Bro. Bella will undoubtedly explain in full the Croatia* Fraternal Union's new CSO Certificates, which went into effect December 1, 1955, af ter their adoption by the 9th Convention. Bro. Ovcarich is certain to cover Sick and Disability Ben efits and detail the benefits to be derived from taking out the Society's "Income De fender" Plan. It is for these and many other reasons- that every Lodge and Nest official in Greater Detroit and vicini ty should attend this Mass Meeting on Sunday, April 22nd. As should any and all members sincerely interested in their Society. Annual Fete June 17 May we, in passing, remind our local members that the Central Educational Commit tee will sponsor its Annual Outing and Program on Sun day, June 17, 1956. The festivities are to be held in Transylvania Park, located off 1Q1/« Mile and Dequindre. Please follow your Zajed ničar for details pertaining to this fete. At the request of the members, the undersigned accepted this position at the lodge meeting. For the welfare of our lodge we would like tp ask for the members' cooperation in the following matters: (1) dues should be paid on time and, if possible, in advance (2) dues books should be used at all times, instead of re ceipts (3) every member should submit his name and address to the Secretary, so that a lodge address directory can be compiled.
