He was a charter member, former president, trustee and board member of CFU Lodge 561 and had been a CFU member for 43 years. Bro. Drazic had also been an active member of Local 12, Bricklayers, Mason and Plas terers, for the last 34 years. He formerly served as board member and trustee. Surviving are two daugh ters, Mrs. Joseph Tonkovich, Detroit, and Mrs. Peter Bli nja, Flint two sons, Stanley in Yugoslavia, and Ivan in Flint five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 7, at 9 AM, in Brown Funeral Home, with the Rev. William J. Malewitz officiat ing. Burial was in New Cal vary Cemetery. May he rest in peace. Charles J. Marold, Sec'y. Cleveland Kolo Aces Slate Private Outing Cleveland, Ohio The Ko lo Aces will hold a Private Picnic on August 5, at Fell Lake. There will be music, games and swimming for all. All past and present mem bers are invited to attend as we are very anxious to see all our friends who have scat tered all over Ohio. If you are planning to attend mail us the postal card which you re ceived with your invitation. On August 19, the Kolo Aces will sponsor their An nual Picnic at the Croatian Home on St. Clair Avenue. There will be a. Tamburitza Orchestra for your entertain ment and a wide variety of refreshments. By the way, did you know that the Aces have two mem bers running for the Queen title this year? They are Bar bara Ann Samac and Mitzi Turkal. The Queen Contest will be climaxed at the 20th Annual Fraternal Day at Puritas Springs Park on Au gust 26 th. On September 2, 1956, "Slavulj" Singing Society will hold a Concert and Dance and the Kolo Aces will ap pear on the program. July 10 was our 5th Anni versary and we hope that there will be many more. An Anniversary Program is be ing planned for October. The Kolo Aces would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate their two members, Mr. and Mrs. Jo seph Procer, for they are now the proud parents of a sweet little girl. GET A MEMBER Bro. Peter Drazic Bro. Ivan Padjan Bro. Sam Anich Flint, Mich. It is with Mklvale, Utah C. F. U, sadness that the members of i Lodge 388 with deep regret CFU Lodge 561 report the reports the death of bro. Ivan death of their member, bro. Peter Drazic, who passed away on April 4, 1956, at St. Joseph Hospital. Padjan, on May 18, 1956, at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. His death occurred only 9 weeks after he lost his son Lee in a tra gic automobile accident. Ivan was born in Ostra, Yugoslavia on May 31, 1901, the son of the late Fafalja and Roza Rukavina Padjan. A self employed farmer, bro. Padjan was a life-long mem ber of Lodge 388. His survivors include his widov Anna, five sons, Nick Kearns, Utah, Joseph of West Jordan, Utah, and Matt and George of Midvale Utah a daughter, Mrs. Don (Patri cia) Whitehead of Midvale, Utah and four sisters, Mrs. Tony Pestotnick of Helper, Anna Miskulin of Sacramen to, Calif., Matija Frkovich, Belgium asd Marija Rozan dich of Gospic, Yugoslavia. The Holy Rosary was re cited for bro. Padjan at the Goff Mortuary on Sunday, May 20, at 8 PM. The funeral took place Monday, May 21, with Requiem High Mass cel ebrated at St. Therese Cath olic Church at 10 AM. Mon signor Joseph P. Moreton and Father Lawrence Spellen of ficiated. Graveside services were officiated by Father Spellen. The CFU Graveside Recita tion was read by bro. Daniel Corak, Secretary of Lodge 388. The members of Lodge 388 send their sincerest con dolences to the bereaved wi dow and family of bro. Pad jan and pray that the Lord May Grant his Soul, Eternal Rest in Peace. Lodge 528 and Nest 189 will co-sponsor a Picnic on Aug ust 12, at Hyde Park, Bunker Hill, (near Eli Shumar's Farm). An abundance of barbecued lamb, pork and, the usual ac companying beverages will be prepared for your enjoyment. Other plans are being com pleted by a CQmmittee com prised of Mr. Tom Simrak, Geo. Tomasovich, John J. De pcrymski, Mrs. M. Depcrym ski, Mark Hasson, John Urus ko, Joseph Grubish, Nick Verbanic, Kay Tomasovich and Amelia Staycar. The mothers and dads of our nest members will also take turns in helping out. Since August 12 would have been our regular meet ing date, the meeting date will be postponed until the following Sunday, August 19. We hope to see all the members and friends of our lodge and nest and of the neighboring organizations in attendance. West Allis, Wis. The members of CFU Lodge 391, with sadness, report the death of their member, bro. Sam Anich, on June 8, 1956, at 10 PM. He was born October 28, 1895, in Selo Volarice, Sveti Yuraj, Kotar Senj, Yugosla via. In 1913 at the age of 18, he came to the U. S. Here he met Mary Pezent, who was born in Painesdale, Mich., and they were married in West Allis in 1928. In addition to his wife, his survivors include his 3 sons, Rudolph, Arthur, George, and a daughter Kath leen. Friends were received at the Schaff Funeral Home, where his bier was decorated with many beautiful floral tributes from relatives and friends. Among these was a wreath from the members of CFU Lodge 391. The funeral took place on June 12, beginning at 9 AM, with services performed by Father B. Yukovich at the funeral home. Following this, Mass was held in the St. Augustine Croatian Catholic Church, with Father Bilan dich officiating. Interment was in the Holy Cross Cemetery, where final services were led by Father Bambr, and Lodge Vice-Presi dent bro. John Pintar read the grave recitation. The late bro. Anich was an ever active member of the Croatian Fraternal Union. In 1939 he served as Manager of Nest 81 and for eight years was a member of the Lodge 391 Board of Trustees. He also brought his children up as true fraternalists. The officers and members of Lodge 391 extend their sin cere sympathy to the be reaved family and pray that the Lord may grant his Soul E&ei*a} Rfft- Peace. Toronto Canucks Set Date For Next Frolic Toronto, Ont. C. F. U. Lodge 975 will sponsor a Pic nic at "Burt's Turkey Farm" on Sunday, August 5. This is the same location where our previous picnics have been held. Hot barbecued lamb, re freshments and entertain ment will be plentiful. We in vite all our members and friends to attend. CFU Lodge 540 will hold a picnic for the members of Nest 103 on Sun day, August 5, at the Con- mon Junction. The bus which will trans port the children to the swimming pool will leave from in front of the Croatian Home, on the corner of 2nd Ave. and 14th and 15th Streets. Parents wishing to have their children go by bus are asked to bring them to the Home at 12:30 Noon. At the picnic the children will be treated to a delicious dinner, ice cream and soda. Preparations are being com pleted by the Lodge 540 Pres ident, Edward Kutjevac, and Secretary, A. J. Kronstain. We also take this opportu nity to urge all parents to keep their children's dues paid up to date and on time, as our assessment payments must be sent into the Home Office. Anna Žeravica, Mgr. Marin has set Sunday, July 29th as the date for a Special Meeting of "St. John's" C. F. U. Lodge 719. This session will be held at the Polish Hall, at 10:45 AM, to make definite last minute moves concerning the annual picnic to be held at Silent Brook, in South Park. The regular monthly meet ing, which would be held on August 12, will be cancelled due to this special meeting. All ledge members are urged to attend this session so that instructions and duties may be assigned and so that we can solve the transportation problem. Joseph F. Tarle, Rcc. Three Pitt Groups To Picnic At Croat Center Pittsburgh, Pa. "Slobo da" CFU Lodge 34, "Bratska Sloga" and K. S. K. J. Lodge 163 will sponsor their first united Picnic on Sunday, July 29, at the Croatian Center in Pittsburgh. Arrangements have been made to provide plenty of de licious barbecued lamb, pork and Qther types of solid and liquid refreshments through out the day. Music will be provided by the well known Tamburitza Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Shaginaw. Cleveland Choir Sees High Time For July 29 Cleveland, Ohio The "Abrasevic" Chorus will spon sor a Picnic at Morscher's Picnic Grounds, Sunday, July 29. The grounds are located on Miner Road, which can be reached via Euclid Avenue and Route 6 (Chardon Road), south on Route 175 (Rich mond Road), East on High land Road and north on Miner Road. The grove is beautifully set in the wooded section of the "Forest City". The dance hall and refreshment stands are well sheltered and can ac commodate well over 200 peo ple. Music for your dancing and listening pleasure will be pro vided by the popular Plavi Jadran Tamburitza Orches tra. We cordially invite all CFU members and friends in Cleve land to spend the day with us Music for the occasion will at the picnic. Our friends in be provided by Dave Zup- the surrounding areas, con kovich and his Tamburitza templating a Sunday after noon drive, are also invited to stop for a rest and some THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AT WORK -OFFICIAL MINUTES- The Supreme President, bro. Mandich, opened the §es sion with greetings. All members of the Board were present. The Minutes of the June 13 meeting were approved a& read. The Supreme Secretary, bro. Bella, presented the fol lowing cases: The request of Lodges 39 and 290 to merge effective as of July 1, 1956 was approved by the Board." Lodge 530 Bro. Vinko Križan exhausted the reserve value on his certificate and has requested assistance through the lodge. The Board approved the issuance of a $400.00 certificate to be designated for funeral expenses only, and is to be effective as of July 1,1956. The sum of $280.47 to purchase said certificate is to be paid from the National Fund, and the member shall be required to pay his own dues. Bro. Grasha informed the Board that the temporary work assigned to bro. Stephen Gazi in the Junior Depart ment shall be completed as of June 30th and is to be re moved from the payroll on said date. Bro. Krasich made a motion to re-employ bro. Gazi on a temporary basis during the vacation periods of the Croatian Editor and his Assistant, which was seconded by bro. Mandich. Bros. Bella and Ovcarich abstained from voting on the motion, and since the remaining Board mem bers voted in favor of the motion, said motion stands ap proved. The Board acknowledged and gratefully accepted a donation of $25.00 to the C.F.U. scholarship fund by bro. Raymond T. Percic of St. Louis. Bros. Bella, Grasha and John Badovinac were delega ted to attend the meeting of the National Fraternal Con gress to be held in Cleveland, Ohio on September 17, 18 and 19th. Bros. Mandich and Servov were authorized to attend the National Conference on Citizenship to be held in Wash ington, D. C. on September 17,18 and 19th. Bros. Bella and Brkich are delegated to attend the 4th Annual mid-west golf tournament to be held in Gary, In diana on July 28. The Board also authorized the purchaje of the necessary trophies for said tournament and an ap propriation of $1.50 for each C.F.U. golfer entry. At the request of the Central Committee, bro. Mandich is to be guest speaker at the 20th Annual C.F.U. Fraternal Day to be held in Cleveland, Ohio on August 12th. Bro. Ovcarich is to attend the annual picnic of Lodge 423 of Aliquippa as guest speaker to be held on July 29th. The Board approved the request of the Croatian Day Committee of Pittsburgh to hold Open House at the Home Office on September 1, 1956, in conjunction with the 25th Anniversary celebration of Croatian Day. At the request of Lodges 628, 855 and 919 of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, bro. Mandich was delegated to attend a campaign conference of said lodges on July 22. Also to visit Sudbury after the conference if possible. Bro. Mandich gave a report on the concert which he attended in Karns City, Pa., a detailed report of which shall be published in the Official Organ. Bro. Brkich submitted his report on the visit to Mil waukee and shall publish a complete report in the Official Organ. His expenses of $129.09 were approved for payment. Bro. Ovcarich gave an accounting of his trip to Mas sillon, Ohio and stated that since there was a heavy rain storm, the entire program had to be cancelled, and there fore, he and bro. Vranes proceeded to Canton, where the picnic was held under shelter. Bro. Ovcarich also reported on the picnic which he attended in Donora, Pa. A letter of thanks and appreciation was received from the treasurer of the Public Auditorium Authority of Pgh. for our donation, which was filed. Sister Papac, Secretary of the California State Bowl ing Tournament, submitted a detailed report of their tour* nament and thanked the Board and Sports Department for all the assistance extended to them. On the motion by bro. Bella seconded by bro. Mandich, the Board unanimously agreed to increase the interest rate on Orphan's Fund deposits from the present 2% to 3% for 1956. The following items were approved for payment: $50.00 donation to the Common Council for American Unity. $1130.40 to the U. S. F. and G. Co. for renewal of the fire, lightning and extended coverage insurance for tha print shop for 5 years. $46.06 for plumbing repairs at the Croatian Club in Black Eagle, Montana. $1500.00 to Hosack, Specht, Muetzel and Wood for the 1955 audit of our books. $53.05 to the Penn State Bookbinding Co. for leather binding 35 C.F.U. By-Laws. $10.00 to TV Station WQED of Pittsburgh for expan ses incurred during our Flag Day program. $210.52 to the Haughton Elevator Co. for repairs to the freight elevator at the Home Office. $5.00 for dues to the Youth Counsellors Section of the N. F. C. $239.25 to M. Hamalak Co. for trophies. Bro. Ovcarich, secretary of Sick Benefit Department presented to the Board the following cases: Lodge 138 Brother Ludvik Polić, cert. 10305 has been sick and disabled for a period of years, but has never claimed any sick benefits. According to the latest medical report and the explanation by the Lodge secretary, the Board approved the payment of said benefits for the entire year of 1955. Lodge 588 Brother Lawrence Jutronic, cert. C-2187 had difficulties in obtaining evidence of his sickness until recently. Upon the request from our Supreme Medical Director (from his doctor) we received the necessary in formation and the Board approved the payment of sick benefits for the year of 1955.
