Using rare foresight and courtesy to the speakers, the United Lodges halted the sale of drinks during the short speaking program. In using the term short, we are not be ing facetious, it really was, lasting only: About a half hour. The behavior of the audi ence during the program made us proud to be South Chicagoans. The courtesy and attention extended the speakers will re main with us as a pleasant memory. No public address system would have been ne cessary, so quiet was the au dience. Possibly the novelty of having a speaker whom few of us had seen or heard before accounted for the rapt attention. Whatever it was, it was good to see. Praising the work done in the past by the old pio neers, he also expressed confidence in the future and cited examples of unity and fraternalism in action at present. We who are somewhat rus ty in the Croatian language appreciated an English lan guage speaker whom we could understand without having to ask the oldsters to render what is often a gar* bled translation. Bro. Brkich said that he will be in charge of one of the C.F.U. groups visiting Yugo slavia thiB summer. We don't envy him his job but feel confident that he will repre sent the Croatian Fraternal Union with ability, dignity and honor.
