Mich.! Frank Sinkwich. This little Croatian colony in Northern Michigan is mourning the death of Stje pan J. Miketinac. 77, widely known area resident, who passed away on September 20. 1957, after an illness of 9 months. No member of this Soci ety worked harder o served the fraternal organ izations more fei*vently than he did. From the time he helped to organize the "Holy Cross" CFTJ Lodge 259 and became a member on August 16, 1903, Mid up until his death, which culminated twenty-five years as an officer of this Society, Stjepan drew the respect of many Croatians for his zeal ous work with the Croatian Fraternal Union. He was a delegate to the CFU Convention in Kansas City in 1912. Proud Of Grid Sons Stjepan was born in Sela, Yugoslavia, and arrived in Jo liet. Illinois, in 1897. From there he went to Her- January 20. 1904, he married the former Rose Grasha. He it survived by his widow, five sons and two daughters, and all are members of Lodge 259. He was also the grandfather of 12. The Miketinac boys are no strangers in these parts or in CFU sports circles. Nicho las of Green Bay, Wisconsin, a graduate of St. Norbert College in 1938, received the largest vote of any Croatian in the All-Star Football Poll. Anthony, also a graduate of St. Norbert College and now a Lt. Col. with the Army overseas in Turkey, was placed o n the Honorable Mention list of the CFU All Croatian Football team 1941. Michael of Crystal Falls, Michigan, a graduate of Michigan State University in 1942, was placed on the All-Croatian A 11-America Football Team which was led by the great University of Georgia Ail-American Chisholm Members To Raise Ned On Dec. 8 CHISHOLM, Minn. Brkich, who for years operated the sports column "Dope Bucket" under the pseudonym of El Cazar. Frank, who makes his home in Escanaba, Michigan, teach- es school and is also connec ted with the sports of foot ball and tennis. The oldest of the sons, Rudolph, is employ ed in Chicago. The two daughters are Mrs. Rudy (Anna) Gorincen of Ho bart, Indiana, and Mary, who resides at home and has ta- the lodge duties where her fatiier left off. Services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas J. Anderson of ficiating. Pallbearers were his 4 sons and 2 nephews, Ivan and Anthony Kobasic. Stjepan is going to be jn missed, not only by the many Croatians whom he served and knew well, but by this tiny community, where he had the respect of its citizens. Re e s e n s will be after the business of .the day has been completed, Death Ends Long Fraternal Career Of Widely Known Cleveland 663 Affiliate Late Frank Sintic Joined Pioneer Ranks Shortly After JBirth Of Dean Of ES Lodges CLEVELAND, Ohio The Pioneer Lodge No. 663 of the CFU lost one of its old time members here recently through the untimely death of Brother Frank Sintic. His death came as a shock! cent years, we have still kept to his many friends in the lodge and throughout the greater Cleveland area even though the news did not come He was a school mate of many prominent Cleveland Croatians at St. Paul's school, among them being brother Matthew Braidech, now one of the nation's foremost ex perts on fire prevention and water purification. He Loved Children Brother Sintic's parents and entire family were mem bers of the CFU and Frank was ensolled early in his youth. He was a member of the Pioneers for better than two decades, joining shortly af ier the lodge was organized. Frank is survived by his widow, Mildred, to whom he was married in 1933. They did not have any children, and this lack of children of their own was spent in lavish love for their many nieces and nephews, children of the in laws. During his long illness i the nieces and nephews called! constantly wanting to know how "Uncle Frank" was do-j ing. His wife attended him! during the many long andi painful days of a deadly ma-! lady which has claimed and is claiming Americans by the thousands each year. Frank Sintic was born in Cleveland on November 18, 1901, and was the son of Anton and Lucija Sintic. Both parents were from the province of Žumberak in the old country. As a youth Frank attended St. Vitus School on Glass Avenue until such time as the St. Paul's Croatian School was established, to which he then transferred. his brothers Thomas, of Cle veland John of Chicago Mathew of Columbus and Michael of Cleveland. He is survived also by three sisters—Mrs. Anna Trivison no, Mrs. Katherine Pentz, and Mrs. Frances Hively, all of Cleveland. Deepest Sympathies The funeral was conducted by the Mary A. Svetek Fun eral Home and during the per iod that he lay in state, many friends came to pay their laat respects and the funeral home, was filled with floral quets and wreaths. Burial was in I^ake Vic# Cemetery. Pall Bearers ii% eluded John Badovinac, Frank Bilicic, Frank Luk sic, Frank Bukovac, Steve Simsic and Andy Braidic. The Eulogy at the grave was delivered by the lodge president, Brother John Badovinac, who extolled the late Brother Sintic's many fine qualities.
