THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AT WORK OFFICIAL MINUTES: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 1958 The Supreme President, bro. Mandich, opened the meet ing with official greetings. All Members of the Board were present. The Minutes of the September 24 session were ap proved as read. As the first order of business, bro. Ovcarich requested that a correction be made in the second session minutes of the Supreme Board, wherein the approval of his report to said Board was omitted. The Executive Board agreed that the necessary corrections be made of the minutes in ques tion as pertains to bro. Ovcarich's report. The Supreme Secretary, bro. Bella, presented the fol lowing cases: Lodge 248 Bro. Joseph Stephanik gave an incorrect year of birth upon acceptance to membership. The Board agreed that said certificate is to be scaled down accordingly. Lodge 402 Bro. Nikola Skender gave the wrong year of birth upon acceptance to membership. The Board agreed that the death claim be paid in full. Bro. Matthew Zvonar, High Trial Board Member, sub mitted a written report on the proceedings of the Colorado Wyoming Fraternal Congress which he attended in Denver on September 19. Saijl report is to be published in the Of ficial Organ and his expenses of $30.00 were approved for payment. Bros. Krasich and Grasha were delegated as the structors to conduct the school to be held in Detroit on Oc tober 25 and 26, which school was requested by the Central Committee of Detroit Lodges. Bros. Ovcarich and Vukelich were delegated as instruc tors of the school to be held in Monessen on October 26, which was requested by the United Lodges of 4 Counties in Western Pa. Bro. Ovcarich gave a brief report on the school he con ducted in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The class lasted 4 hours at which there were about 40 members present rep resenting 8 lodges. The main topics of discussion were the various certificates issued by the CFU and our scholarship program. A detailed report shall be published in the Official Organ. His expenses of $101.40 were approved for payment. Bros. Mandich, Krasich and Grasha gave their indi vidual reports on the proceedings of the National Fraternal Congress which they attended in Miami, Florida, a complete detailed report of which shall appear in the Official Organ. Their expenses of $337.37 each were approved for payment. An increase of $5.00 per week was awarded to Bob's Lo cal Express for hauling our Official Organ to the post office every Tuesday effective as of Oct. 1, 1958. At the request of bro. Grasha, the Board approved the purchase of a new typewriter and stand and posture chair for his department. The Board agreed that all the old original records and books pertaining to the history of the Society are to be re bound and then stored in a safe place. The Children's Home Committee submitted bids which they received for the installation of a new furnace and storm windows in the Administration Building at the Children's Home. After carefully checking all the bids as submitted, the Board awarded the contract for the installation of a new furnace to bro. Steve Niksic for the sum of $6428.00, and bro. Steve Horvatich was given the job of installing the storm windows for the sum of $1930.00. The following items were approved for payment: $250.00 to the Insurance Federation of Pa. for dues. $35.00 to bro. Bazdarich for expenses in attending the CFU golf tourney held in Hobart, Indiana, on July 26. $115.00 to Bruce and Assoc. for actuarial services ren dered in September. $25.62 to Fields Florist of Kansas City, Kansas for a floral wreath for the late Joseph Renko of Lodge 505, who was a former Supreme Board Member of the St. Joseph So ciety of Kansas which merged with the C.F.U. in 1925. The lodge also sent a thank you letter to the Board, which was acknowledged and filed. Bro. Ovcarich submitted the following cases: Lodge 2 Bro. Charles Sinkarow, cert. EO-2483, was not entitled to sick or disability benefits. On the recommen dation of bro. Ovcarich and the opinion of the legal coun sellor, the Board agreed to reimburse the member for said dues. Lodge 18 Sister Judith Sepich, cert. EO-5557, under went an operation which is not listed in the By-Laws. On the recommendation of bro. Ovcarich and Dr. Arch, the Board approved payment of the claim as per Section 259 of the By-Laws. Lodge 175 The lodge submitted an appeal in behalf of bro. Pavao Matusevac, cert. 4655, for assistance from the National Fund since the member dropped his sick and disability protection during the depression and was unable to reinstate himself since that time. The Board approved a donation of $50.00 to said member from the National Fund. In connection with his meeting with the Insurance De partment of New York, General Counsel bro. Servov re ported briefly on the status of present members of the So ciety in New York. He advised the Board that present mem bers of the Society can and should make necessary inquiries so that their present policies can be kept in force. He also advised the Board that our New York members have the same rights, privileges and protection as all other members of the Society and that members in the State of New York should continue to do whatever is necessary to remain in good standing. Local social activities and monthly meetings of present New York members are permitted and certainly social, sport, educational and other activities are encouraged. There being no further official business to discuss, the Supreme President adjourned the meeting.
