Any inspector or other person apprehending a slave in the act of escaping from the -tata on board a vessel tra ding to or belonging to a uonslnvcholding state, or who shall give information that will lead to the recovery of any slave as aforesaid, shall be entitled to a reward’ of one hundred dollars, to be paid by the owner of such .lave, or by the fiduciary having charge of the estate to which such slave belongs, and if the vessel he forfeited under the pro vision* of this act, he shall, be entitled to one-half ol the proceed* arising from the sale of the vessel; and, il the the same amount* to |1ii0, he shall not receive from the owner thp above reward of *liw>.
