Indian* that attacked Hembree's party were about to re
treat, when they **w the Bo-ton* run, then they rushed
on. Capt. II killed one Indian and wounded another,
after being lelt by hi* men. They say tie w*« but
•lightly wounded, and when the Indians came up he |>h ad
for hi* Uf*. The Indian* hesitated and wi ll nigh eoncltt

but busily killed him. This is the story ol three Indian*,
who wer* then in the hostile camp and doubtless know .—

ny of volunteer* under Capt. liletzo, forty-one in number,
who had the day before killed fix Indians on th* match
down the river, and Company (i of regular troop* under
Captain Auger, numbeung about sixty. The regultr*
were on the north, and the volunteer* on the south side
of the river. The regulsr* commenced the fight about
twelve o’clock, killed aix Indiana, and drove tin- balance

them . and alter a half hour’s fighting, completely routed
them, lulling twenty-four and taking six prisoners, lie

The Indian* had previously fortified themselves in a pn.

On Tliutihlse, the 12th instant, four of tho principal
chiefs e one into Major Reynolds’ camp at the mouth ol Il
linois River, and wi-hed to make a treaty. Be ordered
tocm to report themselves to Captain Auger, and the day
alter some two hundred Indians, uteti, women and chil
dren, went to the Camp ol Capt Auger, tnd gave thmt
selves up to lie sent to the Reservation. Tbev were sunt
to the mouth of Rogue hirer.

ditiou, scalded externally and internally by the escape ol
