The potato crop, both in the UuiP-d Kingdom and on
the Comment, nppeaiw to have turned out mneh belter

considerable influence upon the value of the better kinds
of food.
Farmers have threshed out about average snpplics of
whea', and, for the most part, they have been disputed of
in far average condition. On th - continent the trade has
cool nued heavy, and in the United States produce gctui
allr ha* he,n selling at very low prices.
Owing to tho want of moisture out-door farm labors
have made corap natively little p-ogres*. The hardr.xfS
ol tho soil has prevented ploughing to any extent, and
rain is still much wanted iu nrarlv every counlr in E ■
gland.
Tho turnip and carrot crops are turning oof tolerably
productive; but they are certainly not iqusl to man* for
mer years either as regards quantity or quality.
