In one of his picket* a letter was found, dated “Aoder

ed ‘J me Johnson.” It was evidently written by a basely
deserted wife, and consists of pathetic appeals and touch
ing reproaches. The husband who could receive aud
read such a letter, without experiencing emotions of re

THE EXCITEMENT IN GEORGIA—MORE MODE
RATE COUNSELS
Acoista, Ga., Not. JOth.—Tbe largest meetiog was
held ia Greece couoty.laat Friday, that erer assembled in
that county. It waa participated in by the moat induen
Ualcilixens of the coun y, and resolutions of a conser
vative character were adopted almost unanimously. They
urge the call of a State Oonveution, of all parties, to
calmly consider the threatening condition of tffaire, and
avert, if possible, the destruction of the National Union.
They appeal to the people of the whole country to dis
card the counsels of agitating politicians and demagogues,
and invoke all sectious to rally to the rescue of the im
perilled government. They declare that the politicians,
iustead of all tying excitement, hare stirred it up, instead
of repressing mutusl distrust aud dislike between section*
have promoted it, instead of removing causes of dispute
have created them for the rake oi obt doing office and
power—that in both sections they have pandered to the
prejudices and pasaions of the people at home, keeping
each section ignorant of the patriotic, couservatiee and
catholic feeling existing in the other, until, mutually ex
asperated by iucendtary appeals aud representations ol
these hungry seekers of office, both sections find them
selves in a fierce controversy, which they had no hand in
bringing on.
A Urge meeting was held in Hancock county, Satur
day, which adopted, unanimously conservative resolu
tions, denying that the mere election of a Republican
President is a sufficient cause lor disunion, but declar
ing that the unfriendly legislation of many of the Free
Stales outrages the comity cl the Uaion and demands
resistance.
A majority of the counties of the State have heid
meetings in favor of secession. Many favor a conserva
tive policy, and some recommend retaliatory measures
towards the North. They all unite in favoring a State
Convention, and all oppose the policy ot coercing a ee
ceding State.
At a meeting in Bryan county, it was resolved that no
Northern fishermen or huntsmen should hereafter ope
rate in their sccliou, aud those uow there should be no
tified to leave.

SECESSION IN NORTH CAROLINA.
Wiluixotok, Nov. 20th.—A Urge public meeting was
held in this city last night, at which strong resolutions in
