MISCELLANEOUS.
Tm Ahaloanation or Lawcicaozs.—There is a grow
ing tendency in this age to appropriate the most express
ive words of other languages, and after a while to incor
porate them into our own ; thus the word Cephalic, which
is fcom the Greek, signifying “for the head,” is now be
coming popularized in connection with Mr. Spalding's
great Ueadaehe remedy, but it will soon be used In a
more general way, and the word Cephalic will become as
common as Electrotype and many others whose distinc
tion as foieign words has been worn away by common
usago until they seem ‘ Dative and to the manor born.”
’ardlf Realised’
Hi 'ad 'n 'orrible 'eadache this hafternoon, hand hi stepped

that I 'ardly realized hi 'ad 'ad 'an ’eadache.
or IIkadachk is the favorite sign by which nature
makes known any deviation whatever from the natural
state of the braiu, and viewed in this light it may be look
ed on as a safeguard intended to give notice of disease
which might otherwise escape attention, till too late to be
remedied; and its indications should never beuegheted.
Headaches may be classified under two uamez, viz :—
Symptomatic and Idiopathic. Symptomatic Headache is
exceedingly common and is the precursor of a great va
riety of diseases, among which are Apoplexy, Gout,
Rheumatism, and all febrile diseases. Iu its nervous form
it is sympathetic of disease of the stomach, constituting
tick headache, of hepatic disease, constituting bxitout
headache, of worms, constipation and other disorders of
the bowels, as well as renal and uterine affections. Dis
eases of the heart are very frequently attend'd with
Headaches; Anamiia and pletlioria are also affections
which frequently occasion headache. Idiopathic Head
ache is also very common, being usually distinguished bv
the name of nervous headache, sometimes coming on sud
denly iu a state of apparently sound health and prostrat
ing at once the mental and physical energies, and in oth
er instances it comes on slowly, heralded by depression of
spirits or acerbity of temper. In most instances the pain
is in the front of the head, over one or both eyes, and
sometimes provoking vomiting; under this clws may al
so be named Neuralgia.
For the treatment of either class of Headache the Ceph
alic Pills have been found a sure and safe remedy, r< -
lieving the most acute pains in a few minutes, and by its
subtle power eradicating the diseases of which Headache
is the unerring index:
Bsinorr.—Missus wants you to send her a box of Ce
phalic Glue, no, a bottle of Prepared Pills—but I’m
thinking that’s not just it nailher; but perhaps ye’ll he
nffnr Irrmnr!nn> ttliuf it la Va a.-.a ukn'a n!nl< .1 .. .1 ....1
gone with the Sick Headache, and wants some mere of
that same as relieved her before.
Druggist.—You must mc&ii Spalding’s Cephalic Pill*.
Bridget.— Och! sure now aud you’ve sed it; here’s
the quartber, and giv me the Pill* aud don’t be all da)
about it aitber:
Constipation or Coativenraa,
No one ot the “many ills that flesh is heir to” is so
prevalent, 90 little understood, and so much neglected as
Oostiveticss. Often originating in carelessness, or seden
tary habits, it is regarded aa a slight disorder of loo lit
tle consequence to excite anxiety, while in reality it is
a preccursor and com|>anion of mauy of the most fatal
and daegerou* diseases, and unless early eradicated it
will bring the sufferer to an untimely grave. Among
the lighter evils of which costivenpss is the usual attend
ant, are Headache, Colic, Rheumatism, Foul Breath,I’ile
and others of like nature, while a long train of frightful
di~eas*s, such as Malignant Fevers, Abscesses, Dysen
tery, Diarrlues, Apoplexy, Epilepsy, Paralysis, Hysteria
Hypochondria-is, Melancholy and In-unity, first indicat
their presence in the system by this alarming symptom
Not uufrequently the disea-es named originate in Consti
pation. but take on an independent existence unless tin
cause is eradicated in an tally stage. From all these
consult rations it follows that ibe disorder should receive
immediate attention whenever it occurs, and no person
should neglect to get a box of Cephalic Pill* on the first
appearance of the complaint, as their timely tine will ex
pel the insidious approaches of disease aud destroy thi
dangerous foe to human life.
A Krai Ktlcftftliig*
Physician.—Well, Mrs. Jones, how is that headache
Mrs. Jones.—Gone! Doctor, all gone ! the p II you
scut cured me iu just twenty minutes, and I wish you
would send more -o that I cau have them handy.
Physician.— You can get them at any Druggists. Call
lor Cephalic Pills, I find they never fail, and 1 recom
mend them in all cases of Headache.
Mrs Junes.—\ shall send for a box directly, and shal
tell all my suffering friends, for they are a real blessing.
Twxstt Millions or Dollars saved.—Mr. Spalding
has sold two millions of bottles of bis cel- brated Pr<
pared Glue, and it is estimated that each bottle sav<* ul
least ten dollars worth of broken furniture, thus making
an aggregate of twenty millions of dollars reclaimed
from total loss by this valuable invention. Having mad
his Glue a household word, he now proposes to do the
world still greater service by curing all the aching heads
with bis Cephalic Pills, aud if they are as good ss his
Glue, Headaches will soon vanish away like snow iu July.
Over Excitement, aud the mental care and anxiety
incident to close attention to business or 9tudy, are
among the numerous causes of Nervous Headache. The
disordered state of mind aud body incident to this dis
treasing complaint is a fatal blow to all eneigy aud am
bition. Sutferers by this disorder can always obtain
speedy relief from these distressing attacks by using one
of the Cephalic Pills whenever the symptoms appear.—
It quiets the overta-ked brain, and soothes the strained
and jarring nerves, and relaxes the tension of the Him
ach which always ac -ompanica and aggravates the di<or
dered condition of the brain.
Factworhi Knowing.—Spalding’s Cephalic Pills are
a certain cure for Sick Headache, Bilious Headache, Ner
vous Headache, Costiveuess and General Debility.
Great Discovert.—Among the most important of all
the great medical discoveries of this age may lie consid
ered the system of vaccination for i-ioteetion from Small
