ST. DOMINGO TO BE ANNEXED—REVOLUTION
ARY PROCEEDINGS.
N«w York, March 2<> —The steamship • gutter City,"
from Havana last Monday, has arrived here. Much ex
citement ex'ste in Havana on the sutjjct of the annrx
at on of St. Domingo to Spain. It .net urn that a system
of Spanish emigra’ion has been going on at that island,
the emigrants being instructed, wheu the proper time
arrived, to hoist the Spanish Hig and invoke the protec
tion of Spain. This was done on the 16th, much to the
astonishment of the Blacks snd natives. When the news
reached Havana, the (ligate ‘'Blanca," fully armed with
a large number of regular troops, was dispatched. Two
screw frigates are soon to follow, with 8,000 regular
troops.
A large naval and military force, consisting of 10,000
men, are said to be on the way from Spain to Cuba
It is state t t at Hayti will soon share the same fate as
St. P miugo. and w th the consent of France.

session of the Senate, about four hundred nominations
were confirmed, nearly fifty of wLkh were seut in by

the Senate and not Secretary, as was erroneously stated

The success which has attended this effort to establish In the city
of Richmond a Female Seminary of the first class has eneoursg.t
the Principal to provide more ample accommodations for the nex
session. The buildings are now being enlarged, and Importan
modifications will be made In them, which will add greatly to the!
convenience and comfort. The lodging rooms are large snd wel
ventilated, and not more than from two to four boarders will occn
