THE DAILY DISPATCH. Professor Hale akdthe Mtsterioc* Fe ■*lk.—The Petersburg Exprew of Saturday, devote* a column to the subject of the Pvofea sor and hia my»teriou« movements in connrc. tfen with the young girl whom he brought to this city, placed in a respectable louse, and deserted after obtaining (as she says) all her money. From the hipress we •earn thst tbe girl, previous to her arrival in Richmond, came on the cars from the South. and Mopped several days in Petersburg, at one of the principal hotels of that city. While there, a gentleman answering the description oi Professor Hale, called and h id a long pri vate audience with her, paid her hotel bill, and look !ier off to the cars for Richmond. Arriv ing here, he placed her in a respectable board ing house, and deserted her, as we have alrea dy stated, leaving her destitute of money and e£ects of any kind exccpt an old trunk ol iiia, containing six candlesticks, a horse blanket' and an old pair of gaiters', which articles were labelled "Professor Hale, Columbia, S. C. M The girl stales that her name is Adeline .Mitch ell, sometimes called Adeline Wilson, her nio jber having married a second husband ol the latter name, and that she is from Cheraw, S. t,. t where her mother now resides. This may or may not be true, as she has doubtless been prompted to conceal her real name and place of residence. She appears to be an artless, confiding child, who, it is believed, has been induced to leave her parents and home to be come a victim of some unprincipled scoundrel. We have had no tidings of the girl since she, through the aid of some friends, left in the cars for the South on Wednesday last. The Pro fessor made his appearance here on Thursday aight iast, and departed that night, or early •aei: : . jrning, for the South. He was at Wei. don cn Friday. He failed to clear up the mys tery during his brief visit, but stated that he was going South for the purpose of obtaining certificates, &c. for that purpose. He made b;re, we understand, contradictory statements in regard to his connection with the girl. We hope the history of the girl (apparent!;, act more than fourteen years of ago) ai:d ihe facts in relation to the Professor's acquaint ance with her, may soon be brought to light.— On this sulject, we copy the closing para jraph of the Express: Thinking it very probable that the girl has seen decoyed from her parents, and deceived, wc have thought some good might be effected bv the publication of these faets. We hope Jbat the South Carolina papers will give them puMa'ly through their columns. It may be shai some doating father and mother are now plunged in the deepest distress at the strange and unaccountable disappearance of a much Joved and cherished daughter; and should these facts coine to their knowledge, they wili at ieast serve to relieve them of that painful suspense and anxiety, which such a disappear ance is weil calculated to produce. A Singular Rf.uc.—The Wheeling Intel? jjgeiict r speaks of au extraordinary relic re «en:.y found in Wetzel county, Virginia. It is nothing less than a crucifix from ail Indian 'au jnd. The mateiiul of this most interest ing object of antiquity is brass, or some eub stsncc resembling it, and iron. The Cross is of the latter material, but the image of the Saviour, (a most beautiful piece of workman ship,) is of brass, or, as some suppose, of gold intermixed with silver. The cross is greatly corroded, and everything indicates loat it must have lain (here for hundreds, perhaps thou-sands of years. What strange »nd curious history is wrapped up in this little «rableni of a Christian's hope! Whence came ■ll To whom did it belong? llow got it there? are questions which will trouble the iritiquary in any part of the world. With it was found the remains of a human skeleton, ar.J vome minor relics of Indian Art. Extraordinary Death.—A singular nod ajehncholv instance of the influence of the fetiings upon human life, has been witnessed near this town during the week. A female re siding on the Mill Creek, went heme on Tues day afternoon, and found that her biolher-in law had eeveiely wounded his foot with nil hit-. She fainted on seeing the extent of the injury, but immediately recovering, she re lumed to Gait on some other business, and then went home, when she passed by the spot where her brother-in-law had been wounded, and the blood was lying in a clotted heap.— Her heart ttunk at the sight; site got home, but ihe recollection was too much far her. She »a::k on the threshold of the door, and when 2aken up, life was extinct. FVKUELL'S CELEBKATi'.U • ARABIAN LINIMENT is wci! known topos sess ihe wonderfully healing, penetrating and stimulating properties, and by its promptness in ef fectiug cure-, which previously had resist'd all otlier mediciuee, administered by the most scientific physicians, has placed it far beyond any eimiiarre medy ever introduced to the people of the United States. It stimulates the absorbents to increased action, and thus enables nature to throw off disease —it penetrates to 'lie bones, adding strength and ac tivity to 'be muscles—it is powerfully anodyne aDd thereby allays nervous irritation, producing a de lightfully pi- asing sensation through the whole frame. Owing to its remarkable anticeptic proper ties, it purities and neutralizes that prisonous, cor rosive principle which renders old ulcerous sores so difficult to heal: it thereloreispeculiarly adapted to their speedy cure.
