They be came rerv drunk before they left the Borough, and indulged in a regular light. The women were so drunk that they had to be assisted in the cart, when they were soon wrapped in slumber. Philadelphia Ledger. Correspondence of the Journal of Commerce Havana, Nov. 23, 1833. Mr. Morrell, recently appointed Consul at Ma tanzas, returns by this steamer to the United States, not being permitted to take charge of the office, by the Brigadier Don Juan I'avia, Oovemor of that District. The cause of this variation from the u-ual cus tom, we are not apprised of. The delay is required to be until the "Exequatur" can be returneu from Spain, JLc. Arrival of Emigrants. — The ship Joseph Walker, with 443 passengers; the Manhattan, with 473; the Cambria, with 341); the Univetse, with (531, all from Liverpool; and the brig Neptune, from Bremen, 116, arrived at this port yesterday morning; a total of nearly 2,000. STORM AT QUEBEC Quebec, Nov. 30.—There have been several se vere storms here of late, and there is plenty of ice in the river. There aie eighteen ships now laid up here lor the winter. There are also nine ves sels ashore below this place. Whitehall, N. Y., Dec. 3. —Last night, near this place, a freight train of twenty-five cars ran over a cow, throwing the engine and several of the cars from the track. The engineer, Mr McMullen, was killed, and two cars full of hogs pitched into the canal. Boston, Dee. 3. — The sloop of war (Jermantown sailed from the Roads this morning for the Brazil station. Rumors are current of the failure of two or three persons engaged in the California trade, hut no names are mentioned. The bill authorizing the endorsement by the city of Baltimore, of the bonds of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, to the amount of #5,000,000, passed the Second Branch last Friday evening by a voie of 6 to 4. Those Muskets.—The N. Y. Herald states that two hundred thousand of George Law's muskets, have been brushed up of late, packed in new boxe*, and prepared for immediate shipment, on some fair day, when news shall have arrived from Eu. rope of a rising in Italy, Hungary, or Germany. We are glad to learn from the Charlottesville Advocate, that the difficulties between the students and citizens have been quieted; and thai the stu dents having returned to their collegiate duties, order and quiet are again restored. A correspondent oC the N. Y. Mirror says Captain Rynders ha 9 received au appointment from the Fed eral Government, as a secret A-ail Agent, with a sala ry of $1500 and travelling expenses. James L. Hoare, convicted in New York of the murder of Susan McAnany, was on Saturday sen tenced to be executed on the 27th of January. This case relates to the emancipation ci 14 negroes, and has been tried four times without coming to a decision.
