Sad Dispensation.—We regret to learn that Mrs Lucy Lee Wiatt, consort of Capt. A. V. Wiatt of (iloucester county, Va., died on board the bark Hahnemann, at sea, on tbe 10th of August. Pattison, formerly editor of the Southwestern Advocate, Tazewell county, is now one oi the publishers of the* Omaha Arrow, at Ornaba City, Nebraska Territory. Corn Crop in the Southwest.—The Abingdon Democrat, alluding to the failure of the corn crop elsewhere, says: "It becomes our people to be extremely grateful to that Bountiful Benefactor, who has in his mercy vouch safed to us, in tbe Southwest, if not an abun dance, at lean a sufficiency."' Another Old Solbier Gone.—William Parroit, aged 100 year* and 7 month*, died at the residence ol hU grand son, in Page county, on the 20th (lit tle wai boinein the old county of Orange (now (ireene) in the year 1754—fought under General Washington in the Revolution- voted for bim as President, and for every Democratic President down to Pierce, lie served in the capacity of High Sheriff twice in the counties of Orange and Greene. The Rappahannock Riot.—The editor of the Alexandria Sentinel has received another account of the late riot at Washington, Rappahannock county. It U very severe on a man named Johns ton, who, it says, originated the riot by repeatedly insulting, without cauae, a youth connected with one of the small shows. Liquor is stated to have been at the bottom of hi* conduct Collision. —A collision took place Wednesday morning on the Petersburg and Roanoke railroad, near Stony Point, between a freight and • wood train.
