Nrw Orleans, Sept. 27 —The steamer Orizaba arrived here, yesterday, with date* from the City of Mexico, to the l!)th. Count Boulbon was rxecu ted on the 12th of August. Further defeats of the Insurgent* were rcportod, but there is nothing con cerning Alvarez. Iturbide, the.Secretary of the Mexican Legation, came passenger. A terrible storm visited the eoa*t of Texas, on the 18th, racing lor tour days, and destroying an iinou-nse amount ol property. Several vessels and many lives were lost. The town of Matagorda was totally destroyed, ex-«|>t three houses! The crops of sugar cane and cotton were ruined. Accounts via Brownsville, representthe revolution in Mexico, a* gradually progressing, and it was reported that Monterey wa* in possession of the rebel*. THE AMERICA AT BOSTON. Boston, Sept. 30.—The steamer America arrived this morning, at 2 o'clock, from Halifax, and her mails have started South. The European papers contain little or no news of interest additional to that telegraphed from Halifax. lu Naples there has been ten thousand deaths from cholera since the disease first made its ap pe-trance. Tne Newfoundland papers contain a few details a; to the wreck of the steamship City of Philadel phia. It appears the vessel stranded at Chance Cove, at 11 o'clock on Thursday night the 14th Inst., it being very dark and raining heavily at the time. She was backed off and ran in shore, where the passengers were safely landed. Tents were immediately pitched, and the 5-10 passengers re main d on the spot till Saturday morning, when a pxrt of them were conveyed to St. Johns in the tteaner Victoria, and the remainder were convey ed oy the same steamer on Monday. On Sunday a detachment of military was sent to protect the property and the wreck. The St. John Post says, that Ihe Engineer of the Victoria descended in a diving dress and found the wreck lying on a solid rock, the bow projecting clear, so that he passed under it. About eight feet of the stem was turned, and there was a hole In the bottom of the vessel. It is doubtful if she can pos sibly be got afloat again. SENATOR DOUGLAS. Springfield, 111 , Sept. M 0 Douglas addressed the people at Geneva, Illinois, on Thurs day, and was listened to with great attention and respect. As soon as he had finished speaking a se ries of anti-Nebraska resolutions, were presented and adopted with but little opposition. SAILING OF THE PACIFIC. New York, Sept. 30.—The steamer Pitcifie sailed at noon to day with IGI passengers, and §1,300,000 in specie. The Hon. Ileverdy Johnson is among her passengers MORTALITY OF NEW YORK. New York, Sept. 30. —The mortality of the city has been reduced this week to about 500, of which 53 were ol cholera. STEAMBOAT EXPLOSION. Buffalo, Sept. 30.—The propeller Troy, explo ded her boiler near Chicago, yesterday, by which accident one person was killed and several wound ol. The names of the Wounded are not given. They were emigrants. FROM CINCINNATI. Cincinnati, Sept. 29.— Wm. Kissane, of Martha Washington notoriety, who was arrested in this ci ty for complicity in the late forgery on the Chemi cal Back, ot New York city, was delivered over to t ie New York cfficers to-day, and lelt on the after noon train ol cars for that city. TELEGRAPHIC ITEMS. Cincinnati, Sept. 29.—The Old Line Democrats held a meeting last night in the Fifth street market, and were addressed by the lion. George E. Pu°h and others. The meeting was very disorderly, and the Know Nothing seemed in the majority. The excitement increases as the election approaches. Detroit, Sept. 29.—Lord Elgin and suit arrived here to-day, and were received by the Mayor and Councils, and escorted to the State Fair. A dinner was given to him at National liotel, this afternoon, by the Common Council and a number of promi nent citizen*. General Cass left this morning to stump the State. Syracuse, Sept 29—The American Anti Slavery Convention assembled this morning, and there was a full attendance ol the out and-out abolitionists. Garrison called the body to order, and the balance of the morning was spent in discussing resolu tions. New \obk. Sept. 29.-A private despatch, dated lioag Kong, July 23d, states that Commodore Per ry had arrived there. Canton was quiet.
