The execution took place on the 23d November. About 11 o'clock, Bunch descended from the third story of the court house, where he was con fined, and on beholding the guard in the room be low, exclaimed. "God d—ll it, gentlemen, how do yon all do t" While they were removing the hand cuffs from his handi, be said, "cut the hand off if yon cannot get them off any other way I'* On ar riving in the aisle of the first floor of the building, and seeing the crowd of people, he again said, "God d—n it, gentlemen, how do you all do i'' He was then conducted to the plaoe of execution, in the rear of the court house, where be conversed with several persons, some friendly to bim, others unfriendly. He told them to keep out of bad com pany. He said thai loose companions bad brought bim to the gallows, lie requested several iudivi duals to see that his body was decantly buried, and on ascending the ladder, made a general re qnest to the crowd to see that his remains were decently cared for, and did not fall into the hands of the doctors Tbo ladder was then jerked from under him. He had not the fatal cap on his face. Per tons present say he died with scarce a strug gle ; he bad been banging scarcely a minute, when his eyes closed and the pulse soon ceased to beat. Alter hanging about twenty minuter, he was taken down and placed in a coffin, when he was examined by a physician and pronounced dead. Bunch was only about twenty years of age, and when sentence of death was pronounced upon him, exhibited a depraved fearlessness During his con finement, and while at the gallows, he exhibited the most reckless depravity. He was of mixed blood—Spanish, French and Negro. He was de scended from the Buccaneers, who, in days past, infested tb»Mexican Gulf, and met bis fate with all the hardened depravity of his ancestors. Fatal Ice Accident.—We have to record ano ther fatal accident, resulting from imprudence in venturing upon the ico. A fine lad, of twalve years, named William Warren, (sou cf Fitz Henry Warren, formerly Assistant Postmaster Genen-C) is an attendant at the Academy of liev. Mr Wocd bridge, at tha village of Auburn Newton Yesterday afternoon, witb a young companion, named Lawsin, young Warren went np on the ice of Charles river to skate. Wbile so engaged, he suddenly came upon a weak spot, where the ice was less than an inch thick, and broke through.— Hit companion attempted to rescue him by band ing him a stick, but In the effort broke through himself. The alarm was given, when, by means of a sled pushed towards him, Lawson was ssved. Young Warren, however, went under the ice and was drowned. The neighbors immediately turned out, procured-boats, and succeeded iu recovering the body. This sad event should bo a warniug to boys not to venture upon the ice until they are as fired of its perfect safety.—Boston Traveller, of H'cdntsdiiy. Damages bt the Flood.—We learn that the recent heavy rains did considerable damage to the railroad* In the interior. The heavy embank ment on the Mississippi Central aud Tennessee load, between Boliver and the grand junction, is in fact completely washed away in many places, to that the cars cannot make the trip. On the Mississippi Central, the trains were unable to get from Holly Springs to the junction on yesterday, so wo learned from passengers who came in on the train last night The repairs of the Memphis and Charleston rood have not yet been completed, owing to the unfavorable weather, and the train is only running about live miles east of Chewal's station.—Memphis, Term-, Bulletin Catching Whales by Steam.—in Scotland it is proposed to fit out steamers, instead of ships to engage in the whale trade The Philadelphia Ledger, in speaking of this fact, says : It is but three or four years since the bomb has been In nso. This saves much trouble and many lives. After the harpoon and lines are once at tached to him, the whale is fatally wounded, if not literally blown to pieces by the explosion of gnn powder in the deep wound made by the lance. Now it is proposed to employ steam in the pur suit, which will doubtless pay largely, as so much more of the suiface of the ocean can be scoured in quest of them, end when once perceived they will rarely escape- A Brisk Business—On Monday and Tuesday last, there were no le*s than twelve marriage licen ses issued from the Clerk's oflice of this county — All things considered, this is quite a brisk business. There have been one hundred and four marriages in the county during the present ypar, seventeen licenses for which were issued during the first nine days of the present month —Bedford (Virgin ia) Sentinel. Game Laws—A young farmer ia Devonshire hnglaud, was recently sentenced to one month's imprisonment at hard labor, for attempting to catch a hare, on land rented by his father !
