Rupricht, continued from Monday, additional testimony ad - duccd, and the Court ordered his dis charge from Colonel J. B. Danforth's regiment second class militia. In the matter of a petition for a writ of habeas corpus of William Wingfield, of Hanover county, a bonded farmer, the case was elaborately argued by Messrs. August, Lyons, and Winn of Hanover, for affiant, and B. 11. Welford, Jr., for the t J overrun en t The court reserved its decision to a future day. The deci sion iv this case involves that ofaniim ber of similar cases pending in the same court, and who will be remanded or discharged as the Judge remands or dis charges this petitioner. Hanover Circuit Court — Judge Cole NMM. —Yesterday was the regular day for the commencement of the spring term of this court; but as to-day was •'fast day," and but little business could have been done this week, the Jutlge will not sit until Monday, the 13th of the present month. Judge Lyons's Court. —The time of Judge Lj*ons yesterday was taken up in considering the cases of William Daley and Roberts. Forde, both charged with murder. On motions for continuance, their further consideration was ordered, and the court thereupon adjourned. Mayors Coikt.—The following is a list of the cases which were considered yesterday: Lemuel and Kliztlieth Howell were up for a hearing on the charge of stealing three thousand dollars in Slate bank notes and seventy-five dollars in gold and silver, the property of William Bar rett After an examination of witnesses, tbe former was discharged, but the latter was remanded for examination before the Hustings Court. George, slave of Fanny West, charged with fighting in Mrs. West's kitchen, was discharged. Monroe, slave of Willis Wilson, charged with being a runaway, was com mitted as such, preceding such imprison ment to receive fifteen lashes. The following cases were called up and continued: James Childress, charged with bur glariously entering the store of Dunlop, Moncurc & Co. with the intention of committing a theft; Cornelius Smith, a free negro, charged with aiding in, and conniving at, the escape of slaves from their owners; and Philip, slave of A. B. Lipscomb, charged with having a lot of clothing in his possession, supposed to have been stolen. Accident.—At a late hour yesterday afternoon, an accident occurred on Broad street, by which a little boy, named Joseph C. Terrell, sustained an injury which subsequently necessitated the amputation of his leg. While the Gamp-Lee train was ringing for its de parture from this city to that place, Terrell jumped upon the engine ; but, losing his balance, fell to the track, and being caught thereunder, had his left leg broken. At a later hour he \vas con sidered out of danger, though his suffer ings were very great. It is our solemn duty, at all times, and more es pecially in a season of public trial and adversity, to acknowledge our dependence on llis mercy, and to bow in humble submission before His fjot.-too; confessing our manitold sin?, supplicating 11m gra cious pardon, imploring His Divine help, and de voutly rendering thanks for the many and great blessings which He has vouchsafed to us.
