There will be Christmas services
at the Congregational church Sun
day morning and evening. Good
music will form a feature of these
services. In fact there is to be
something a little extra in the mat
ter of music.
Remember the Cantata comes off
at the Congregational church Christ
mas-eve, Monday evening of next
week. This is to be a musical treat,
calculated to please the audience
throught the evening, with of course
the Christmas tree festivities to
follow.
The Methodist church will have
its Chriartmas entertainment on Mon
day evening in the Court house.
There will be a short program with
Santa Claus' chimney, and Christ
mas tree. A cordial invitation is
extended to. all members of the con
gregation and Sunday school, with
their friends, to be present and bring
their gifts.
Rev. Father Albrecbt of Yankton,
has arrived and will conduct his
initiatory service at St. John's
church, Sunday next. By inquiry
we learn that he will speak in Eng.
lish at eight o'clock 'service in the
morning, and at 10:30 in the fore
noon. The Rev. Father called on
THE TIMES in company with A,
Miksche, Esq., and we have a good
opinion of his ability.
Well, here's Godey's for Decem
ber, Godey's Lady's Book, the dear
old favorite, richer than ever, fuller
in its stories and original articles
brighter in its illustrations more
suggestive and helpful in its fashion
plates and notes and all that con
cerns the lady's dress, beauty, and
comfort. Every lady ought to take
Godey's. Address Godey's Lady's
Book, Philadelphia. Pa.
In obedience to an invitation
from Prof. Muggley, the Rev. J. M.
LaBach of this city delivered a lec
ture on the south before the Breck
enridge schools. Wednesday of this
week, which is spoken of as having
been very interesting and instruc
tive. Mr. LaBach has been in the
south sufficiently to understand the
situation there, and in some fea
tures be rather surprises many peo
ple who know nothing of it, except
from prejudiced political versions.
We lear^th^jt Prof. Muggiey desires
to make a feature of lectures before
bis school^ tor the future, which
will undoubtedly prove not only in
teresting buttbeneficial.
SERVICES AT ST. JOHN'S
CHURCH.
There will be aou services at St.
John's churcb Sunday of this week,
the Rev. Father Albrecbt b^iiig in
the country, but Christmas *day,
there will be services held. At Ave
o'clock a. m., high mass and speak
ing in tbe English language. At
eight o'clock that morning there
will be mass and at half-past ten
o'clock that morning there will be
high mass and speaking in the Ger
man language. The St. John's con
gregation is greatly pleased with
Father Albrecht. He is a very able
speaker, having been in the minis
try more than thirty years, and
withal is a very cheerful and affable
gentleman. This congregation de
serves just such a man and we think
the congregation is large enough
and strong enough for the best
going.

CORRECTION.
We inadvertently omitted to
make a little correction last week.
The week previously we noted the
fact that the Episcopal ladies' fair
and supper were ..followed by .a
dance, the statement being left a
little ambiguously, in that one
might have imagined tlie dance
was a feature of the ladies' enter
prise, which was not a fact. The
dance followed but it was not on the
church programme.

TEACHERS' MEETING.
It is to be hoped that every teacher
in the county will be present at the
meeting of the Richland Teachers'
Association at Wahpeton, Dec. 29,
at 10 a. m. Many interesting topics
will be discussed, among which are
the following:
Relation of Home to School.
How to Awaken Interest.
Discipline.
Resolutions for the New Year.
Mistakes in Teaching Reading.
Arithmetic.
Authors' Days and Life of Milton.
The success of this association de
pends largely upon the little sacri

make to attend the first meeting.

AMUSEMENTS.
A rare treat is promised our play
goers during holiday week, when
Ruby LaFayette, supported by lier
own powerful and select dramatic
company wjll -appear at Seely's
Opera house,' commencing on Mon
day evening, December 24, with the
beautiful comedy—"Pygmhlion and
Galatea."
In speaking of this company a
Mitchell exchauge, says: "Never in
the history of Mitchell has a play
been presented that gave as uni
versal satisfaction as "Pygmalion
and Galatea." The opera house was
well filled to greet Ruby LaFayette
and her excellent company on their
first appearance in this city, and be
fore the curtain fell on the first act
the audience was captivated, and it
was pronounced by all to be the
finest entertainment ever witnessed
by our theater goers. Should 'Miss
LaFayette ever desire to appear in
the part of "Galatea" again in this
city, she may rest assured the house
will be packed."
