He was given the po sition of solicitor for the house. His work appeared to be satisfactory, he brought in many orders, and was look ed upon as a good man. His accounts as far as known thus far with the Southwestern Commercial company are all right, but in the tenderloin and among the busi ness men ho has left a long trail of debts and borrowed money behind him. Among the business men who are losers by this bilk is a v,M known restaurant, Mr. and Airs. Corning, from whom he obtained a suit of clothes and a gold ring, and Mr. Mo- laskey, of Lowell, where he roomed Tile latter gentleman attached fcts grip for what he owed him, but from all accounts ho only secured a gold brick for his trouble. De Coo is a ;oung man about 27 or 28 years of age, smooth talker, dresses well and wears glasses, and it would be weii for business in other towns in tho ter ritory to look out for him, as he is sure to pay them a visit. He is just loaded with recommendations of the highest order, but his actions in Bis bee would only give him a recommen dation for the Territorial prison at Yuma. Mrs. George Cia-k. It is also apparent that from the new buildings, which are being built upon the modern plans and extending up more than the old single-story style of building, will demand an in creased facility for fighting Area, should one occur in one ot these two or three-story buildings. This will be in the direction of lacders for the firemen to attack fire from the front and rear ot these "sky scrapers," where tho fire is above tho first floor. This is a matter which the city coun cil should tako cognizance ot at the earliest moment and assist in same manner the equipping of the depart ment, with at least one or more ex tension ladders.
