When known mineral bearing ground becomes more valuable In an established mining camp for residence purposes than it is for its mineral re- Knnrrps nnrtlpnlnrl v In eurn s rantn of great values as Bisbee, strong evi dence of the growth of the camp and its future prospects along that line is certainly afforded. A deal which closed yesterday be tween the J. E. Thompson Co. ard John M. Johnson, whereby the J. E. Thompson Co. took over the claim of Mr. Johnson facing on Naco road, ad joining the drill hole of Denn-Arizona in -which splendid mineral showing was recently secured, tells the story or now j valuable building sites have lately be j come in Bisbee. For It is the intention lot the real estate company to at once i put on the market the lots that the 1 Johnson claim will make. Engineer Jorgensen is now surveying these lots, and within the week buildings ' will be going up on some of them. , Indicative of the demand that there , is in Bisbee for lots upon which to fbuildin homes in touch with the great producing mines in which the J great bulk of Bisbee s 15,000 popula tion finds employment at good wages. Is the fact that since it became known through the Review Friday morning that a deal was pending between Mr. Johnson and the Thompson Co.. the latter's office has received a number of applications for lots in the addition In the event of their coining to the market. Indications now are that the lots will serve to keep the company busy but a short time The Johnson addition affords the only ground that is on the market In or about Lowell or between the city proper and that suburb. It is undent able that during recent months the de mand for building sites has been -it people desire to live in the neighbor Lowell, because of the fact that the mines where Bisbee men earn their livings are in that direction. Naturally people desire to live In the neighbor hood of their employment. Few, com paratively, have had this opportunity to the present time. The Johnson ad dition will bv no means fill all the de mand, though it will contribute quite a little aid. Hundreds more of homes would bo built quickly In the same neighborhood were the ground avail able. That offered by the Johnson addition is desirably located In that it is up out of the gulch. It is not rough, as Bisbee real estate goes, and will grade at comparatively small expense. Above all, however, from a commer cial standpoint. It Is centrally located to the mines. A choicer bunch of ground In this respect could not be secured. The deal by which the Johnson claim comes into the hands of the J. E. Thompson Co. grows out of the dif ferences between Sir. Johnson and the Denn-Arizona. The latter had option on three claims belonging to Johnson, but wished to take but one, that now in ihe hands of the real estate company. Mr. Johnson refused to sell the claims separately, and the option was declar ed off. The J. E. Thompson Co. im mediately went after the ground, and put up a figure that is said to be more advantageous to Mr. Johnson than that which the mining company offered biin. HON. Jillings, of this city, well Known in mining circles, lias recently returned from Llano, Sonora, where he sold some very valuable properties to C. W. Goddard & Co., of Cincinnati, Ohio. Forty-eight nertenencias wero sold, upon which Mr. Jillings realized handsomely. He has holdings with other parties, to the "extent of 235 per tenencias, adjacent to the property sold. These claims are located iu the Magdalena district, and give promise of proving valuable. Some tunnel work and drifting has been done on three of the claims, and a showing of $17 to ?39 gold per ton has been se cured, with good indications of better bodies of ore when depth is attained. Mr. Jillings and his associates expect to Install a stamp mill in the early fall and begin extensive development of the properties. Superintendent of Bridges Ryan, of the E. P. & S". About Rheumatism. -- if There are few diseases that inflict more torture than rheumatism and there is- probably no disease for which such a varied and useless lot of reme dies have been suggested. To say that it can be cured Is, therefore, a bold statement to make, but Chamber ain's Pain Balm, which enjoys an ex tensive sale, has met with great scc-J cess in me treatment oi mis disease. One application of Pain Balm will re lieve the pain, and hundreds of suf ferers have testified to permanent cures by Its use. Why suffer when Pain Balm affords such oulcl: relief !and costs but a trifle? For sale by all dealers in patent medicines. Hon. Mike Nugent, of Yuma, passed through the city yesterday enroute to his home from El Paso, where he had been on a business visit. He earne over the Southwestern from El Paso for the purpose of getting a glimpse of the wonderful development 'of this section of Arizona. At the depot he stated that Yuma county was never In a more prosper ous condition, and there never was a time when the future of the Colorado valley was so promising. The govern ment has already received bids for the construction of the Irrigation enter prise at Laguna. fifteen miles above Yuma. After the date when these bids were opened fifteen other bids were received, which had been delay-1 ed on account of railroad tie-ups and i slow trains on account of high water. On this account other bids are to be called for: this will cause some delay in the beginning of the work, but it will furnish water to irrigate many htousand acres of fertile land In the Yuma valley. o Attempted Burglary A Mexican charged with attempting to force en trance to the office of the Copper Queen Hospital at an early hour yes terdav morning will be arraigned be fore Judge McDonald tomorrow morn ing.
