Santa Catalinas And The i Old Hat Mining Districts (Arizona Dally Star.) The plcturctquo range of the Santa Catallna mountains, closely following the border lino between Pima and Pi nal counties, has by prerogative of merit, been the favorite haunt of tbe pleasure seeker during the summer months. The western limits are to the north of Tucson, distant about fif teen miles as the crow flies. Why tho titanic forces that fashioned mountain and plain were diverted from their usual course,' placing this range of mountains transversely from west to cast between the Sau Pedro and Santa Cruz valleys, is a matter beyond tho conception of the Unite mind. The fact that tho lavish distribution of numerous other ranges; all parallel ing directly opposite points of tho compass does not warrant the conjeo lure that the trivial circumstances of accident bad anything to do with it. To the appreiative observer, tho grandeur of these mountains can not be exaggerated and their broad ex panse of summits measured by miles, not by acres, and covered with a lofty growth of pities and tho many other varieties of trqes and shrubbery. Impresses ono with the thought that the desert and waste places must be far away. It is only in recent years that any methodical and systematic develop ment of the mineral resources of the Catalinas has been undertaken, but tbe demands of a progressive day war rant tho search for additional ore bod ies of commercial utility and intensive operations are now being carried on in the v cry shadow of the pines. Apaches Camp. The Apache camp is located on the northern slope of the range, well tu wards tho eastern extremity, and has a commanding view of the San Pedro valley. Hero a clofae corporation of national reputation is operating under bond the liiesman and Leatberwood properties. The working bhaft is down I about 450 feet, with extensive lateral i development at the different levels, but tho results of the work are not 'authoritatively given for publication. ALout fifty men are employed. ' Adjacently located to the above are 1 the Daly claims, fourteen In number; ! the Hartman group and in the near vi cinity the property of E. O. Stratton and associates and in all of which con ! siderablo money has been expended. The Foran group, under option to W L l)?vis, has been equipped with machinery capable of deep explora tion. The Del Monte property, un der the management of Donovan & Walker, of nine claims, the Simpkins j unu .iuruuez cuums, uu ate iuwiiivu In this vicinity. The prevailing character of the or of this district is ,a chalcopyrlte, car rying ;;old and sliver in addition to the copper values. Campo Benito. To the north and west of Apache camp and at a lower altitude is tho scene of tho Cody-Dvvyer M. & M. company's operations. The company has thirty-six locations here and a forty-ton mill has been installed. Tho ore is a scheelto gold ore tha yields to the milling and concentrating pro cess. Tho Southern Bell, owned by the Cody-Dwyer Interests, is now under bond to Capt Jack Burgess. Tho prop erty consists of nine patented and four unpatented claims, a patented mill slto and a ten stamp mill. Pepper Sauco Gulch is the location of the "Euffulo Bill" claims, consist Ins of twelve In number. Tho CodjfDwycr and tho Cody-Bur-gess combinations own and control several groups In addition to tho fore, going that are receiving more or less practical attention. The ore in tho vicinity of Campo Potilto is in places a disseminated sul phide carrying gold and sliver values. Oxidizing agencies havo freed the values to a considerable extent from their Lase combinations, making amal gamation practicable to a certain ex tent. Both Apache Camp and Campo Be nito are In tho "Old Hat" district and aro easily accessible to Tucson by ex cellent wagon road. Tho E. P. and a. W. railway has surveyed to tho form mer camp and tho course of line runs approximately near to all tho import ant mining interests now known in that locality. Its construction is well within the realms of tho possible. LECTURERS DEPART OFFICIALS PLEASED, Casus Belli of Sunday Night Riot Permanentlv Sent from District FINE EXHIBIT OF HANDIWORK The police feel greatly relieved now that T Uozovlch and T. Nastlch. the two lecturers with liberal ideas as to government in Montenegro, have left tho city. They left Sunday after noon for tli J catt, but it is not known whether they are returning to Chi cago, or w-:il give, their lectures in other parts of the southwest. Both aro well educated and apptrentiy re fined gentlemen, but their presence here tended to disturb opposing fac tions, and their departure will remove the Immediate cause 6t the trouble that started tbe riot a week ago Suit' day. The case of the state against Pete Gukanovich, who was arrested on the night of the riot, which was to have been tried yesterday afternoon attet having been three times postponed, was jwstponed again yesterday. Tin previous hearing of the rases result ed in a disagreement In ihe jury, though on the first ballot they stood eleven to one for conviction. Tho postponement yesterday afternoon was made on account of the fact that Deputy County Attorney Alexandei Murry was called to Tombstone on county business and will be there during all this week. The case wilt be heard next Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. If You Like a Little Quiet Fun Ask some pompous person if Grape-Nuts Food helps build the brain. Chances are you get a withering sneer and a hiss ol denunciation. Then sweetly nlay with the learned toad. Ask him to tell you the analysis of brain material and the analysis of Grape-Nuts. "Don't know? Why, I supposed you based your opinions on exact knowledge instead of pushing out a conclusion like you would a sneeze." "Well, now your tire is punctured, let's sit down like good friends and repaii it." 'Ihe bulky materials of brain are water and albumin, but these things cannot blend without a little worker known as Phosphate of Potash, defined as a "mineral salt." : One authority, Geohegan, shows in his analysis of brain, 5.33 per cent total of mineral salts, over one-half being Phosphoric Acid and Potash combined, (Phosphate of Potash) 2.91 per cent. Beaunis, another authority, shows Phosphoric Acid and Potash (Phosphate of Potash) more than one-half the total mineral salts, being 73.44 per cent in a total of 101.07. Analjsis of Grape-Nuts shows Potassium and Phosphorus (which join and make Phosphate of Potash) is considerable more than one-half of all the mineral salts in the food. Dr. Geo. W Carey, an authority on the constituent elements of the body, says: "The gray matter of the brain is controlled entirely bv the inorganic cell-salt, Potassium Phosphate (Phosphate of Potash). T.his salt unites with albumin and by tHe addition of oxygen creates nerve fluid or the gray matter of the brain. O f course, there is a trace of other salts and other organic matter in nerve fluid, but Potassium Phosphate is the chief factor, and has the power within itself to attract, by its own law of affinity, all things needed to manufacture the elixir of life." Furthct on he says: "The beginning and end of the mctter is to sup ply the lacking principle, and in molecular form, exactly as nature fur nishes it in vegetables, fruits and -grain. To supply deficienciesthis is the only law of cure." Brain is made of Phosphate of Potash as the principal Mineral Salt, added to albumin and water. Grape-Nuts contains that element as more than one-half of al! its mineral salts. Every day's use of brain wears away a little. Suppose your kind of food docs not contain Phosphate of Potash. How arc you going to rebuild today the worn-out parts of yesterday? And if you don't, why shouldn't nervous prostration and brain-fag result. Remember, Mind does not work well on a brain that is even partly broken down from lack df nourishment. It is true that other food besides Grapes-Nuts contains varying quantities of Brain food. Plain wheat and barley do. But in Grape-Nuts there is certainty. ' ' ) " ' " ' j 'And if the elements demanded by Nature, are eaten, the life forces have the needed material to build from. A healthy brain is important, if one would "do things" in this world. A man who sneers at "Mind" sneers at the best and least understood part of himself. That part which some folks believe links us to the Infinite. '. Mind asks for a healthy brain upon which to act, and Nature has defined a wav to make a healthy brain and renew it day by day as it is used up from work of the previous day. " . , . .. T , Nature's way,to rebuild is by the use of food which supplies the things required. '-j . . FROM THE EDITOR H; :-orcjet That He Had a Stomach.
