Jack McGregor Overcome Dismay was spread in the city last evening by report that Jack McGregor well known insurance man and a member of tbe Higgins .Leasing Co., had been killed while visiting the mine. It subsequently developed that Mr. McGregor ha been overcome y gas and was removed from the mine to hia home in an unconscious condi tion. Dr. Wr.tMns was summoned and later revived Mr. McGregor. The afternoon testimony went more into the details of tho transaction and it was during these proceedings that the complaints were withdrawn against the other defendants. Henry Strodhoff. manager of the Douglas store, told of the telephonic order from Blsiee for -forty cases of Winchester cartridges and the ship ment from Douslas to Bisbee by ex press, that such shipment was made on the order of the manager and was to the hardware department of the ttlsbco store. u Lino Riders Sheehy and Harry Ov ertask told of the seizure of goods and the arrests of tho defendants. Over lock also told of a conversation with Bracamonte the next day when tne latter said he had "Not treated us well" and refered to the seizure of the ammunition. ' M. H. Sterling told of the making of tho delivery and of what he knew of the sale, as to which he had not been consulted. He told of the telephone calls that came to him later in the J evening from Taft and.llen. Perry told of the transactions on the books s far as the receipt from Dong las was concerned. During the earlier testimony a 'mysterious stout Mexican gentleman wearing kid gloves' was frequently mentioned in tho questions asked by Assistant V. S. Attorney Richie tut his identity was not disclosed until F. E. Coles gave his name as R. E. do Negre, the man who paid for the cartridges. Manager McCoy of the express com pany told of the shipment from Doug las to IBstee, and Robert T. Allen re lated his nart In unloading the goods. W. II. Brophy when called to the ; stand stated that he was manager of the company, that ho was Informed of the sale, that the goods were order-d from. Douglas after consulting him and he agreed to letting the Mauser cartridges from the Douglas Hardware company be shipped to them and de livered by them. Mr. Brophy did not know or Perez occupying any official capacity and did not know that ho had formerly purchased cartridges. He -did rot consider that there was anythlnf -nal in the transaction and nothi, Sad occured to arou3e bis suspicion. M. J. Brophy, manager of the Bls bee store was called. He testified that he knew nothing of tho transac tions as he was out of town on Wed nesday and Thursday, a part of both days. Frank E. Coles, assistant maiMsc of the Blsbee store solved the mystery of tho kid gloved stranger stating that It was It. It was a regular transaction, no attempt at concealment was made ana ne saw u reason to inquire as to who the pur chasers were or what they wanted of their purchases and more than he would as to any other transaction.
