Thursday Morning, November 27, 1913 OUR THANKSGIVING Nature takes this season of the year peculiarly unto J.e'rself as an occasion when men may return their thanks 'for her bounty The. land is not so broad but thst every community in it knows cf the fitness of the occa sion und flnds timo to pause for a day and take store of its tolls from the treasure houses which Nature pos ecsec in abundance and. from which she distributes her fayors with a prodigal hand. i uach community, according to Its kind, elves thanks for the fullness of the benefits with which it 4s partic ularly endowed. The Warren District surveys its gar rierings from, its stores of mineral wealth with the, same fullness of heart and the same mead, of apprecia tion wlta which other communities view their over flowing granaries, their pastures of cuttle and sheep, their products of the looms, or1 other concrete example of their ind'istrios. Without thought of selfishness or moie-blessed-thau-. tliouness, the Warren District feels itself especially blessed and therefore especially called upon to make duo acknowledgement to Nature, through worthy expressions of thankfulness. The industries of the District are in an unusually flour ishing condition. This means happy, contented dwellers in comfortable, 'well-provided homes, and in such home there is always reason for real happiness and conse quently, thanksgiving; Respect for the law as a result of lovo of order per vades the District. Contntment is on every hand. Na ture not only bestows her mineral riches upon the Dis trict but heaps up tho measure with outpourings of a' niaSt perennial sunshine and health-giving ozone. From neighbors close at hand come the fruits of Arizona soil with which to load the tables of Bisbec, LovteU and War ren for Thursday's feast. There is none in the Warren District too humble to find without effort something for which to bo genuinely thankful. Thero is none too richly endowed to partici pate in the holiday with other than a feeling cf humble ness and gratitude. Thanksgiving Day is hallowed to the memory of no ecclesiaii; it celebrates no historical event. It is a fes tival for tho home. The Warren District is a community of prosperous, well-ordered homes. Thanksgiving, there fore, means much to the Warrea District, and it will ob serve the day in the spirit of gratitude due to blessings of tho Almighty. That the conservatives of the party are In the minor ity all will adnrlt, but with many radicals opposing the extravagant and wasteful methods of Hunt, and with Wortley In the fight, they hope that Ling will lead tho trio, although it will be any man's fight Hunt will have behind him a strong organization of oppolnlive officers bent on holding their jobs and ought to have a big campaign fund. The party organization in the state is In the enemy's hands, however, and it will be Impossible for him to capture it before the primaries. GENEROSITY AND THRIFT "If there are nice things ou want to buy and they are necessary, boy. then, but do not squander your money Save it" John D. Rockefeller. To save money for avaricious purposes Is altogether different from saving it for economical purposes. The really generous persons have been the thrifty once. Tako Stephen Glrard, Andrew Carnegie, and John Rockefeller. They are typical philanthropists, who started out with very moderate means and built up great fortunes on the foundation of Industry and thrift After they had becomo rich their generosity was marvelous and their fames In that respect is as great if not greater than that which came to them' because of their ability tn accumulate. Thoso who are liberal with the use of money which they thmselves have not earned are not really generous, and their so called liberality is of little credit to them. Every good fortune, every successful business or in vestment enterprise requireo, to begin with, some cap ital, Now capital la attained through the right use of money, the conservation of personal resource in other words, by the continued practice of thrill. If you have generous impulses, if you want to do the most possible for those dependent upon you and for yonr fellow man, build up your own resources by steadily raving a portion of your income.
