J f The Golden Era has discovered thatfthej moanait m&n in Cbristsnilom resides in eTu l&re CaBnt.California, and tells, as follows, of the act which has gained him this distinction ; "It seams that his wife died last summer, and no aoonsr had t'ie spirit left its oarthljr taber nacle, than he hurried off ta a neighboring dentist and procured a pair of forceps, and immediately attracted all her gold-filled teeth. And whilttths preparation for the funeral was going on, he sat on a big atone, back of the house, cracking tkem like English walnuts with an old claw hammer and picking the fill ing out of the cavities with a. shoemaker's sew-i ing awl. "When ramDnstrated with by some of his neighbors, he said that he had spent the best part of his life picking and digging to get gold out of the ground, and he'd ba gol-derned if h.e was a goin' to bury anyof .itgain and kuow of it. "Ifl was a profans individual, Icould do7cte a. few moments to cursing snch a wretch as that ' with considerable' satisfaction, I always lose what little patience and good 'temper I possess when I think oftuch villains being permitted ,to ureathe the strao nir Idn. I am not a quarrelsome parson by any means and don'tgo sailing around the streets like a floating battery, and bolicviugin a future pun ishment, would rather imorue my hands in sul phuric acid than m human blood. "Cut: "I do just think that if I had bean at that funeral, and seen that old tooth-cracker hump ed up over that stouc and pegging away . at tham-teeth, he would ha70 gone into the grave with his toothless wife, though I had to swing for it.
