The Hustings Court convened last Tuesday morning (July 9) at lu o’clock with Judge John L Ingram presiding for the purpose of trying John Archer Andsrson the 3# year j old husband for jhe murder of hte, I wife. Gertrude Anderson and her daughter. Lillian Robinson, the tat l- ng h.s step-daughter. Ander son .appeared dejected. Being with out counsel the Court appointed i/. I The court room was not well fiiled but few persons boing aware M at he would he brought to trial. Mr. Satterfield in a brief summary asked for a verdict of murder in the first degree. OF LOW MENTALITY. A Forney Percy Smith alleged that Audcrun was of low mentality, that he had been nagged by his wife and daughter into doing- what he did. H^> had for this reason advised him to plead not guilty to the charge of first degret* murder. He admitted that he was guilty of s<3"ond degree muider. Wit.jies.es for the prosecu tion were then called. Among these were the sisters of John Archer Anderson. BROKE OPEN DOOR. Fannie White one of these, who reside.-, at 702 N. Third Street said that she was at her home that morn ing. I was about 3 or 3:30 o’clock when he called heir. He called for his other sister and when she did not answer hP threw himself against the door and broke it open. His p’sted. Etnma Anderson was not there. He said he wanted his pistol. He got the p .tol out of the dreseer drawer. Tt was unloaded. His eyes were red and they ' looked like they were going to pop out of his head. TRACK OF BULLET Gertrude was shot back of her left Mihoulder with the exit of the bullet in the front off the shoulder. A bullet entered the right side between the eighth and minth ribs, through the liver and pancreas and was cut out from the left hip. He had the bullet and could produce it. William Robinson said that Ger trudp .Anderson was his mother. He was^asleep at the time... i COULD NOT STAY THERE. .. John Anderson came into the room at about 3 o'clock thalt morning. His mother had seven children. She told Ander.’yjn he could not stay there. She wanted money to take cartv of the children. He satd he had some money, but that he was not /roiDg to give her any of it. Ander son tvasi ia the middle of the room shooting. He Jumped out of the front window. The doors were :>«ked. He naid he came home about ' 11:30 that night. TALKING TO HIMSELF t Archer Mason said he was at the corner of Second and Jackson Streets sitting down, when he heard a man around the corner talking to him j'eif. He said. “Yes I am going to raise hell before morn'.ng.” He ad vised him to put up his pistol that the police were around. I heard the report of a pistol. I went to the •place and saw a man coming down ! the steps. He went through the side alley. He had a shiny pistol in his hand. PISTOL IN DRAWER. Emma Anderson, who is John Archer Anderson’s sister said that she put the pistol in the dresser drawer during the latter part of March It was unloaded. Anderson. 602 N. j Th*rd Street t-aid that her brother lived at her house when he wasn’t with his wife. He had lived with her about two years.
