Wilson of Pride's pharmacy, northwest, is greatly in disposed. Dr. Pride, the enterprising young druggist of the northwest, is spending a short vacation at his home, in Dan ville. Va. Editors W. A. Pledger and W. Calvin Chase will leave for Rochester, N. Y., to attend the meeting of the Afro-American League week after next. Mr. Charles H. Coleman of Albe marle county Va., is in the city on a visit, stopping at 238 3rd street s. w. HOUSEHOLD OF RUTH. The triennal convention. The Triennial Convention of the Household of Ruth of the Grand Grand United Order of Oddfellows in America, is now holding daily sessions at Oddfellows Hall, 1606 M street, northwest. At the opening ex ercises at 10 o'clock, a. m., Tuesday last, a large number of delegates rep resenting nearly every State in the Union. Many visiting members of the Order were present The convention was called to order by P. M N. G., Wilkinson, H. of R. No. 8., District of Columbia. After singing, "Blessed be the Tie that Binds Us" and invocation by the Worthy Grand Prelate Mrs. Agnes Moody, H. of R. No. 44., Chicago, 111. the Master of Ceremonies Wilkinson, introduced P, M. N. G., Mrs. Mary E. Douglass, H. of R. No. 29, D. C, who delivered the address of welcome to which M. W. Grand Superior J. W. Grant of Tennessee, responded. The presentation of a beautiful gavel by H. of R. No. 18, D C , occasioned a neat speech of acceptance on the part of presiding Grant. After singing "All Hail the Power," the public exercises concluded with benediction by the W. G. Prelate Mrs. Moody. The following are the grand officers present: P. M., W. G. S., Wm. T. C, was chairman, Inmate J. F. N, Wilkinson acted as master ot ceremo nies. 'iOur District Household" and "Our Hall'- were the subjects of the speeches of D. M. N. G , Mrs. M. A. Parker, and M. V. P., Thomas H. Wright, respectively; D. G. Master A. H. Stevens, ex-grand director Holmes of Virginia, M. V. P., David Warner and others made appropriate addresses. These ceremonies were punctuated with beautiful selections by the Washington National Musical Orchestra, Prof. Thomas Washington, director. The Speaking over the hundreds of delegates and visitors present were now engaged in social "talk" ?s well as the feabt that had been prepared by the reception committee. In September last, railwav officials from London were sent to America, to get ideas on the railway passenger service of the leading lines in this country, and in their official report, which was printed in the London Times in January, it was stated that the "Royal Blue Line" series of mag nificent passenger trains, running be tween New York, Philadelphia, Balti- 1 more and Washington, lead the world lor quick and exquisite train service. The "Royal Blue Line" service con sists of nine elegant passenger trains a day in each direction between the cities named above. They are the finest and fastest trains in the world. Their equipment was built especially for the service by the Pullman Com pany, and includes every modern con venience known for the comfort of passengers. The trains are vestibuled from end to end, and hauled by the strongest and fastest locomotives in the United States. The exquisite day coaches of these trains are worthy of special note. They are beautifully upholstered, each containing a washroom and smoking compartment. The parlor cars are the most pala tial ever built, being fully seventy three feet long. In addition to this service, three new parlor cars were added in April, and are the first of this kind ever run; they are richly up holstered and ornamented throughout in most beautiful designs. A ladies' retiring-room is provided in one end of the car. This room, which is six feet square, is furnished with a beauti ful dresser with large mirror and a number of drawers. On each side of it are upholstered corner seats. In an other corner is a bookcase and station ary washstand. The terminal at New York City is the most convenient for all points in Greater New York. Passengers can land at South Ferry (Whitehall Ter minal), where, under the same roof, connection is made with the elevated lines of the second.
