March I.—Tho vegetable mar ket is quiet, and little business was transacted today. Potatoes and onious continue to arrive lv large shipments, and prioes are weaker. Green vegetables are arriving freely, and while the demand is good prices have a downward tendency. No peas or tomatoes came to hand this morning. The fruit market is very quiet. Supplies are increasing dally, and are of poor quality. The demand is light in all linos. Receipts were four carloads of oranges. Dried fruit shows little activity, inquiry being confined almost exclusively to French prunes. The market for dairy produce is fairly active. The supply of butter and eggs is heavy and In excess of the demand; and prices continue to have a downward tendency. Dried Fruit and Beans. M«w York, March I.—During the past three or four weeks California prunes have moved out in sufficient quantity to give the market for that class of fruit substantial firmness. The prices for evaporated peaches of tho lower grades have also been established on a some what higher ievel under the influence of fair purchases. More attention is now given the finer grades of apricots. That fruit is also doing some w hat better as to price, although showing no radical change. There are reports that Phil adelphia quietly picked up about five carloads of California prunes in this market last week, Kirst-class California Lima beans, ri -cleaned, are quoted at f1.75p1.80 per bushel on spot, and uncleaned, dingy stock at {1.05. Let us hope that the people who habitually disregard their hoalth will attain that desirable place, and avoid the locality which is less de sirable as an external residence on account of the heat and surroundings generally. But while we tarry in this vale of tears, why should we voluntarily endure the tortures of dyspepsia when a systematic use of Hostelter's stomach Bitters will rid us of the atrocious malady which—unless physicians are very much at fault—tends to shorten the term of our exist ence. Heartburn, biliousness, constipation al most always accompany this complaint and are symptomatic of it. These are all extinguished by the bitters, which also conquers completely malaria, rheumatism, nervousness and debility. Since the appearance of " la grippe" it has shown a singular mastery over this formidable complaint that has carried oft so many of our brightest and best.
