Without a belief in a future state of punishment, too much strain is put on the philosophy of many. There are many unwritten laws and each town has several that are dif ferent from those in the others. It makes a long, aggravating day of it to hold in your temper. SEES BACK TO FARM MOVEMENT AS SURE UNEMPLOYM’T CU E Representative Black (D., N. Y.) believes that the key to the unemploy ment problem is a "back to the farm” movement. The New York Represen tative has introduced in the House two bills in which he seeks to aid the un employed by providing farm homes. One measure, "to provide farming opportunities for certain destitute and unemployed persons” carries authori zation for an appropriation of $10, 000,000. This money is to be expend ed by the Secretary of Labor "for the purpose of providing farming oppor tunities to destitute and unemployed persons who were formerly engaged in agricultural pursuits and are now lo cated in towns and cities.” The Secretary of Labor is instruct ed to lease abandoned farm lands to provide suitable living quarters, to fur nish transportation to such lands, and supply seeds and farming equipment. Black’s other bill authorizes the Sec retary of Labor to aid those out of work to get established on a farm so they can earn a livelihood. WHY HE WASN’T PROMOTED. 1. He grumbled. 2. THAT'S the very reason why it’s so essential to select a re- g ! liable funeral director; one whq will advise wisely, and not g > take advantage of the bereaved to order extravagantly. « Our advice is to be sensible and do not set aside your better | j. judgment. At such a time this is difficult; that is why we jS ; suggest that the matter be placed in the hands of a funeral 8 i, director who may be implicitly depended upon. £ > That we have such a reputation can readily be verified from j families we have served. w | GEO.
