Marshal Sullivan at the 'I head of a squad of police, boarded the train, but tho parents simply defied them, and as they wero with tho chil dren thero was nothing for tho ofllcrs to do but to leave tho car. A bitter legal fight Is looked for today whan tho parents who tried to send their children out of town on Saturday and were arrested when they persisted, will be arraigned in court. Because of tho fact that Judge Ma honey planned to dispose of tho asssault and disorderly conduct charges entered , against tho men and women arrested yesterday, following tho wild charge of the police upon tho crowds. It Is not expected tho children and their parents will bo arraigned until late this after noon. Suits May Result. Ten of tho children will bo arraigned, charged with being "deserted children," whllo their parents, who aro striking operatives, will be charged with "neg lecting dependents." Daniel J. Attorney George E. Roower, jr., will represent tho strikers and their chil dren, and on tho outcome depends whether other children can be sent where they can be cared for unmolest ed. If the children and their parents are discharged, damago suits against tho city and tho officials as individuals also will bo begun. It Is said. State Police Captain Proctor Issued a statement today charging the strike committee with planning dynamite out rages, lie said the strikers were Im porting gun men and hiding them In tho soup kitchens. Governor Foss' order to Attorney General Swift was sent last night. The latter found It on his desk when ho returned from Washing ton today. United States District Attorney French and the attorney general have been in constant communication since Saturday, when tho police stopped about llfty children and their parents, wives of tho strikers, from boarding a train that was to take the children to Philadel phia, as tho result of which action a riot followed. Attorney General Wlckerfcham asked Mr. French to ascertain If the Lawrcnco police stopped the embarkation of mothers and children. He sets forth that if these persons bought their tick ets to Philadelphia It was a violation of tho interstate commerce act to stop them. , , , Mr. French today assigned special agents of the Department of Justice to make an Investigation at Uwrcncp. The llndings will bo turned over to Mr. Wlckersham. Confesses Larceny And Gets Probation Irving Patterson, former storeroom keeper at tho New Kbbltt, was paroled today on tht eight offences of petty lar ceny from the hotel, to which he plead ed gulltv last Thursday.
