Montrose park contains sixteen acres and will be laid out with tennis courts and other open-door features when It is completed. Mcridan Hill park, op posite Boundary castle, will soon be placed in the bands of the landscape architect for Improvement. It cost the Government JlflO.MO for n bare ten acres, and Is probably the most expensive purchase ever made Ii any government for park purposes. An appropriation of $25,000 Is expected from the coming Congress to carry on the plans for beautlflcatlon. Borings are now being made tinder the direction of the Fine Arts Commis sion for the Lincoln Memorial In Po tomac park. Rock has been found at a depth of forty Jo fifty feet. A road war Is now being constructed In lower Potomac park that part beyond the Long bridge which will make It a mat nitlcent boulevard In a year or two. Only one-half mile of the road Is be ing macadamized at present, as only $r.,000 is available. Ash Collections Cut . During Summer Months Beginning April 16 and continuing un til October 31, weekly Instead of sctnl wcckly collections of ashes will be tiade from private residences, apartment houses, containing not more than four families and lodging houses of not more than twenty-live rooms within the tire limits and certain of the more thickly populated sections .adjacent. Dally collections of garbage will be made from May 16 to October 15. From October 16 to May 13 three collections a week will be made. The work Is done by contract with the District Govern ment. Householders are ucged by the J. W. Paxton. Superintendent of the Street Lleaning Department, to co-operate with the clean city committee during "clear-up" week, which begins April II, by placing all refuse, and trask so that It will be easily accessible to the collectors.
