NAVY YARD WORKERS
TO
Secretary of the Navy were first told
that the employes at each yard would
be given a representative on the wage
board of that yard. But inasmuch as

to those paid by private concerns, and
these private concerns refused to give
Information if labor representatives
were on the boards, this plan had to be
abandoned.
It was then proposed that the De

Washington Wage Board
Report Findings to Daniels
November 1 6.
In about a week, employes of the
Washington Navy Yard will know the
recommendations of the wage board re
garding readjustment of their wages.
The Washington board, with those at
the other yards of the country, will re
port to the Secretary of the Navy No
vember 15.
The findings of the boards will then be
turned over to the employes, who will
b, giveiwan opportunity to study them,
and make counter proposals. Secretary
Daniels, who will make the final decision
not later than December 1, will give
hearings to representatives of the em
ployes not satisfied with the findings.
According to law, the wages must con
form to wages paid in corresponding
trades by private manufacturers in the
same locality. Since last June local
workers have been trying to get a gen
eral increase.
