Th find ing of tho mutilated body of Joseph Veselka, chief witness for the Gov ernment against a party of eleven Fayettevllle, Tex., citizens held un der the espionage law, yesterday came as the climax to a scries of minor ac cidents that have befallen other wit nesses for the Government. Several days ago the Germanla Club at Fayettevllle, flew a German flag. Prompt action followed, and eleven members of the club were placed under arrest. Yesterday, seven of the members were released, following an explana tion by officers of the club that the flag was raised "by mistake." Four others under arrest were still held. Joseph Fen nel!, noted artist, has refused to ac cept the degree of Doctor of Letters from the University of Pennsylvania as the result of a title between him self and the university. In a letter to Provost Smith, Penncll declined to accept the degree "now or at any future time from an institution si lacking in courage and justice."
