TO ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER COMPANIES.
In view of the fhreatfnfH ;hnrf?io- nf oil 1-JnHc nf fni Hi.rir.- iU .,:.
unitea Mates Fuel Administration has requested ihis committee to urge upon all publr
utility companies and through them the consuming public their hearty co-operation in
carrying out an intensive campaign tor fuel conservation.
rMf.Ts?T,tth,!l.S,(! we recommend that electric light and power companies ABANDON THE
DISTRIBUTION OF GEM LAMPS and reduce to absolutely necessary application the use
of the inefficient and now obsolete carbon lamps and limiting the ordinary use of lamns to
those of highest efficiency.
The utility companies may relv on the co-operation of the. Fuel Administration in
securing the requisite amount of coal for the continuous operation of utility plants only to
the extent that these companies make it evident that they are co-operating effectivelv with
the Fuel Administration in husbanding in every practicable way the fuel upon which the
country is so largely dependent for the operation of its War Industries.
Inviting your co-operation in this patriotic service, we are . - t-
....... . Yours very truly, '
NATIONAL COMMITTEE ON
GAS AND ELECTRIC SERVICE,
G. W. Elliott,
Secretary.
The Government In Urging the Use of
Mazda (Tungsten Filament) Lamps as a substitute for the Carbon Filament Lamps will effect a reduction
of about 50T in the consumption of electricity and at the same time provide a much brighter and more
satisfactory light.
To aid the Fuel Commission in this endeavor to save coal, this
Company will discontinue supplying its customers with carbon lamps
