Christmas candy will not be . re
stricted by thefood administration.
Many candy stores, in accordance with
a voluntary sugar conservation plan,
have been refusing- to sell more than
one pound of candy at a time to a
customer. This restriction is not re

a necessary conservation measure thla
holiday season, since the sugar short
age has been materially relieved.
Last year the nation faced a seri

and the manufacturers were allowed
to use only BO per cent of their nor
mal requirements of sugar. This
the food administration was at that

time asking people as a patriotic
measure to hold candy consumption
to the minimum and to use those va
rieties which contained the least
sugar.
Several of the confectioners' asso
ciations passed resolutions requesting
their members to sell not more than
one pound to a customer, unless It Is
