Compare the thin, sickly, angular frame with the FOR MRS. SPENCER Funeral services for Mrs. Samuel Spencer, widely known local social and philanthropic worker, who died Tuesday at Tuxedo Park. N. Y will be held tomorrow afternoon in St. Mary's Church at Tuxedo. The body will be brought to this city for in terment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Spencer, who was the widow of Samuel Spencer, president of the Southern railroad, had made her home in Washington for more than thirty years, spending the last years of her life in the big Spencer residence at 2012 Massachusetts avenue northwest. Following the death of Mr. Spen cer, some years ago, the house was used as a favored meeting place for Washington society and many bril liant social affairs were held there. Mrs. Spencer was a leader in philan thropic work here and many of the meetings of women's welfare organ izations were held at her home. She was a supporter of many local char itable organizations. Mrs. Spencer was born in Columbus, Ga the daughter of the late Gen. H. I, Benning, C S. A. She was seventy-one years old. She was a member of the Society of Colonial Barnes of New York, Daugh ters of the American Revolution, the National Society, Chevy Chase Club, Tuxedo Club, and the Montgomery County Club. . She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James B. Layng, of New York, and two sons, Vivian Spencer, of Nw York, and Henry B. Spencer, of 1747 Rhode Island avenue northwest, Washington. Nunnally, seventy-three years old, who died Tuesday, will be held at his old home in Petersburg, Va., upon arrival of the body there today. Mr. Nunnally died from heart disease at a camp on Conduit road. He had been in this city for several years, making his home with his son. Dunning L. Nunnally, 1129 New Hampshire ave nue northwest. Mr. Nunnally had been in falling health since the death of his wl'e about three years ago. The shock of her loss is thought to have affected his heart and to have led to the stroke which caused his death. Mr. Nunnally is survived by four sons and three daughters. well rounded form which is usually accompanied by the bloom of health and attractiveness.
