PONTIAC, Mioh., Oct 7. Mrs.
Hazel Luekart, of Royal Oak, is la
jail here on a charge of having fed
corroBive sublimate to her two little
girls, Edna, six, and Shirley, eight.
The children are dying In a Detroit
hospital.
Prosecutor Gillespie claims to have
obtained a confession from the
mother, but no statement as te a mo
tive. She was hysterical when she
arrived at the Jail and said nothing,
except "I am not afraid."
Later Mrs. Leukart talked with Gil
lespie and several officers. She de
clared, they said, that she gave the
two girls four slow-acting poison pel
lsts each, and later fed them others
In capsules. This took place a. week
age. The children have been failing
slowly since.
To Mrs. H. W. Yates and Isaac Gel
lert, of Detroit, whom she summoned,
Mrs. Leukart Is said to have declared
the children obtained the poison acci
dentally. Her husband, Roy Leukart,
a Highland Park real estate man,
knew nothing of the eircumstaneaa
until he was told by officers. He be
lieved the children sick from natural
sasses.

support the steel strike, Senator Hen
ry L. Myers of Montana charged in
the Senate today.
"The police of the DLt-.ct of Co
lumbia very soon will be contributing
money out of their pockets, appropri
ated for them bj Congress, to help
keep up this strll.o of lawlessness,"
said Senator Myers. "The police ef
