JAZZ PALACE BECOMES ANNEX FOR INDUSTRY Maibohm Factory Builds Addition ? To Care For Fast Growing Business. A dance hall and additional dry kiln and loading platform space totaling? about 30.000 square feet have already been found necessary as Increases to the new Maibohm Motors Company plant at Sandusky. Ohio, although the new factory has been in operation less than a month. A half-mile test tra<-k and about a thousand feet of new sirio track are also being added. The "jazz" emporium is not used a.? sivh. but merely for the unsynco pated storage of materials. It-is a large structure on Sandusky bay a short distance from the Maibohm plant. It is the abode of ragtime only in the summer, and it wa.? com mandeered to help house the big stocks of materials which are being used in the production of twehty-flve Maibohm "Sixes"' each day. Additional lumber dry kilns fifty three feet in width and extending "?erose the entire end of the Maibohm plant are also under construction. This equipment gives 100 per cent ef ficient facilities for lumber for an in creased production of Maibohm bodies. The larger kilns serve one of the most efficiently designed and equipped t.ody mill rooms ln the country. A new loading platform, eighteen feet wide and nearly 600 feet long, is being built. This will add more than 100 per cent to the present loading facilities and will be served by an other sidetrack for both the main line of the New York Central and the Big Four. To eliminate conflict with speed? laws in the testing of finished cars, ? half-mile track is being constructed in one corner of the Maibohm prop erty. The cars are now being rond tested on the streets and roads near the factory. LUBRICANT, WORKS , "Deflocculation" Is Discovery That Makes It Possible to Use Graphite In Autos. Graphite has al way? been known a.? one of the most effective lubricant* to u?e on friction surfaces. But it re mained for Dr. Acheeon to make th?? application of graphite adaptable to use in automobile?. To accomplish this it was necessary to incorporate graphite in a solution which would hold it perfectly sus pended. Dr. Achcson's discovery resulted in what is now known aa deflocculated graphite, which has been given the , name of Oildag. To bring this ?rraphite to a sufficient fineness to ad mit of Its being thoroughly lncorpo- | rated with a liquid required that It should be reduced to grains much finer than that of flour, or practically broken up so that each grain contains 1.0OO or more molecules. How Feat Va m? Accomplished. This was accomplished by subject ing the graphite to the enormous temperature of T.SOO degrees Fahren heit, this high heat so vaporizing any impurities hat it 1 eaves the eraphite absolutely pure, but so tine that the particles are only visible under the ultra-microscope by reflected llsht. To get some idea of what this means it might be stated that it takes 33S. 704 particles of deflocculated graphite to extend the distance of an inch. This form of graphite was then combined with ^oil of the highest grade, under pressure, with the result that 9 lubricant was obtained that forms upon metal a perfect anti-fric tion surface that requires a great deal of friction to break down, as it not only coats the metal, but actually combin?e with the metal itself, and owing to its extreme fineness become? a permanent part. ??reda? Another Piad. In addition to Oildag tt was diseov erde that by blending graphite with a high quality grease with the exactly right proportion of 99.9 per cent ptj?re. a perfect combination adaptable for gears and transmissions, which are re quired to run constantly in lubrica tion, could be produced. To this form of graphite the word Gredag has been given. ? It Is claimed for Gredag that, owing Radiator Repairs OF ALL KINDS Bring Us Your Frozen Radiator ..a??-* We Treat Your Radiator And Pocketbook Right Honeycomb Radiators for Ford Cars Guarantee Radiator & Lamp Co. 1411 14th SL N.
