J., Waterbury, Conn., and Chicago. Edward H. Childs has been ap pointed receiver. CATCHES THREE BULLETS, BUT FOURTH GETS HIM NEW YORK, Dec. 17.-Michael J. Higgins, a private detective, twenty six years old, whose home is in Au burn, N. Y., caught three bullets fired at him by an unknown Greek today at Grand Central Station. He muffed the fourth bullet, which pierced his lungs and may prove fatal. According to Higgins, he went to the station to protect a friend whom he knows only as Joe from an unknown man who had repeatedly attacked him. Higgins said he did not know the as eallant's name, Higgins said he waited with Joe until the Greek arrived and began abusing the former as usual, Hie thereupon gave the Greek a thrashing and was being congratulated on his prowess when the Greek returned with a re volver. Higgins cloe with him and was shot twice In one hand and once in the other s he fought for posses ion of the revolver. After the third shot the Greek broke away and, taking deljberate aim, shot Higgins through the chest. H. ran, pursued by a mob, but escaped.
